I'm thinking of giving sailing lessons this season in Geneva.
It all depends on how many people would be interested. I noticed that the demand for such classes (especially in English) is quite high, and that the offer cannot really match it.
I have a 32 ft sailboat (9.8 m) at "La Nautique" (next to Geneve Plage) and usually go out sailing in the evenings after work and on weekends for pleasure. This year I would like to do a bit more and offer sailing lessons to beginners and intermediates. These classes would be 2 hours long (I'm flexible of course), in the evening on weekdays, and during the day on weekends when I'm not racing. In French or in English. I will align the price to what other commercial schools charge: 75.-/h for private lessons, 55.- p.p. in groups.
So would you be interested in such classes? Please let me know by replying on this forum or contacting me directly. [email protected] 079-615-7030
Do you require a different format? I'm open to suggestions.
A bit about me: I'm Swiss (from Geneva), 36 y.o, bilingual French/English, and have been attending Sindy and Glocals events since 2000. I understand the expat/international mindset of Glocal members and their needs, and like to help out by sharing my knowledge if I can. I have been sailing all my life, mostly on Lake Geneva, but increasingly more out at sea. I not only hold the Swiss lake permit (sail and motor), but also the Swiss sea license. I love to race sailboats (Surprise, Grand-Surprise) but also to cruise leisurely and enjoy life. I have taught sailing to kids in Cape Cod and Boston, but also to adults. Last year (2009) I co-organized evening sailing-swimming-apero activities with "JamesBB" here on Glocals. It was quite a success (will do it again this year).
Looking forward to seeing you on the water!
