Hi Dajleeng

Your best option is probably to go back to the store where you purchased the clothes and have them remove the tags.

Other than that, if this store has a location closer to where you live, they will probably remove the tags for you too as long as you have the receipt.

Just dont try to remove the tags yourself, cause sometimes these tags have color puches thats pray all over the clothes if the tags are broken.

Worst case - just wear the clothes with the tags, and hope people think its a fashion statement :-)

Good luck

Oded

Thanks, Oded, do you know if any shop in Geneva is able to do it on proof of purchase? Or do I really need to go back to original store, or any machine in regular store will do? I would like to avoid going back to Lyon bcs I have other plans for Saturday and don't want to pay another 81 quid for the ticket. At the mean time, I would like to start wearing the cloths bcs they are very warm and this is the best time for wearing them!

This particular brand shop does not exist in Geneva, if I am not mistaken.

Thanks a lot again.

Daj

Hi Daj

Sorry, I don't know if a different store would be able/willing to remove the tags for you.

Just go to a store near your house and try, and let us know what happens :-)

Chances are, the alarm-system in another shop won't trigger.

Or only "a bit".

I bought a light wind-breaker type coat in Germany and it had the RFID-tag inside one of the pockets. I wore the coat for some time and walked in- and out of stores.

Each time, the alarm would just "blipp" without any real trigger.

I had no use for the pocket so it took a while before I realized that these "blipps" were caused by me... ;-)

I used a side cutter (Seitenschneider in German - dict.leo.org offers different translations, see here for pictures: http://images.google.ch/images?q=seitenschneider - Migros DoIt+Garden should carry it) to remove it.

But I would have to see a photo of the tag on your piece of cloth to judge whether you can remove it yourself easily...

I'm not sure, though, if I could pull this off in a shop, in the changing-cubicle ;-)

I don't believe this carries a color-bomb, unless the item was _very_ expensive.

And even if it does: as long as you don't damage the actual RFID-part of the tag, it won't matter anyway.

Regards,

Rainer

There are several different systems of security tags that are used. Best to take a photo of the tags with your mobile phone then have a look at some clothing stores in Geneva.

Once you find one that has the same system (so they will be able to take the tags off), explain to them your problem and ask if they would be willing to do so. Then set a time to come back. This method is much better than walking in and out of stores setting off their alarm systems.:D

I am really thankfull for the replies but haven't solved my problem.

None of the shops that I visited has the appropriate machine. Good news is that there is no ink inside and they don't set off the alarm. however the security tags are big, round and white and very visible. they seem to be quite individual as the cloths are from a brand shop.

Unless, somebody is able to help me. I am going to have to go to Lyon on Sat.

So, can anybody give me a ride to Lyon this Saturday and if you hear about a shop assistant who lost half of her hair over the weekend, that is probably the assistant of the shop that I am going to. :w00t::angry:

Don't know if my suggestion useful..?

Could you not phone the shop in Lyon, explain the situation and ask if they have any distributors in Geneva or surrounding frontalier towns?

The phone number should be on the receipt.

thanks guys,

I can tell you this is the last time that I bought something from Depeche Mod, they don't even have change of mind policy. The shop assistant just pretends that she doesn't speak English. A French colleague of mine just phoned them up and explained the situation so they couldn't play idiots.

I suggested that shoppays for my tickets or compensates me in some other way. They won't do it. In this case, I am not even allowed to return the cloths.

Anyway, looks like I am travelling to Annecy, which is unplanned waste of time, but I guess I get to see the city.

I am very disapointed about Depeche Mod, and hope they read it and feel bad.
