where to buy an inexpensive bike in Geneva?
 Hello,

I was wondering if you could recommend shops in Geneva where I can buy an inexpensive bike (i.e. around 200 CHF or less)? Thank you very much!

There is a place called Peclo 13 in les Grottes  -  rue de l'Industrie -  that is a second hand bike store, as well as new, and also does repairs

You can also come on the Plaine de Plainpalais on Saturday. There are bikes for 100 CHF. I don't know more, especially regards to the garantee

CASH CONVERTER at Rue de Carouge (Plainpalais) -  A much better deal from the plaine de plainpalais. Bike can go as cheap as Frs.100.- with guarantee. Tons of 2nd hand stuff for sale

I bought mine there.

Cheers.

Do you have the exact address for the Cash Converter, Jackie? Or could you please explain it to me where it is more or less? I was looking for it once, but couldn't find it. Is that the name on the store, Cash converter?

Thanks!

Get the tram to Moillesulaz and then the bus to Annemasse - there is a Decathlon there with really nice girls bikes for 150.

Thank you! And do you know which bus goes to the store and where to take it from?
And is it allowed to transport a bike on a bus in France?

The tram 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 goes to the square of Plainpalais. STOP at the junction of - Plainpalais (you will see Macdonal and Starbucks). Then walk up about 3 more minutes towards the direction where the tram stop or towards the direction of Carouge (Tram 12, 13 & 14) . YOu will come by a big COOP, immediately after the COOP a few building ahead you will find CASH CONVERTER.

If you drive, there is a big underground parking at the Plaine de Plainpalais.

Its a shop where you can buy 2nd stuff (household & etc) plus you can also sell them what you do not need anymore.

Cheers.

Have you checked out the classifieds here? There are some pretty good deals there for slightly used bikes, I have noticed.

Yes, I did. I didn't find much. I don't want to spend more than 220 CHF.
I would to go Jumbo, but it's far.

I think I will check the cash converter.

Can anyone also tell me how to get to Decathlon by bus? Is there a bus from any place in Annemasse that goes there?

you get off the tram and get the number 3 bus if i am correct, tell the bus driver you need to go to Rue de la Resistance and to let you know when you are there. At the stop you walk back about 200 yards at turn left up to the big Casino - decathlon is right there. the cycle back to geneva, takes about 20 mins and is a joy (mostly downhill), anything else i can help with just shout!

Thanks a lot!!! Since I live next to Mollesulaz I will go and check it out. I didn't know that 3 goes there, but  I checked the route and it does stop at Resistance! Thanks once again!
I'm just a bit worried about biking back because I'm really bad with directions, but hopefully will manage. I will let you know if I make it there.

Thanks again everyone. I finally bought a bike yesterday at Jumbo. For those who are still looking, I 'd recommend the store. They had a good selection. I paid 220 CHF for mine.

I just found one for my daughter on Ricardo.ch and it's not a kiddie bike but a larger one for young teens. 120.- and almost new.
