Hi Aita

Nice to see a professional trekker to some of the highest mountains in the world here in Glocals.

I know I do not have capacity to trek Mt Matterhon, but if you organise small treks or other kind of tours, may be I will be interested..

am sure others will also be interested...

but winter, its hard to trek for me due to cold :)

Hi Rajesh, thanks for the message.Very nice to hear from you. Well I've a big thought to visit to Mt.Matterhon some time.

According to Nepal's diverse geography & different landscapes,Nepal has diverse climates & temperatures about how much cold that depends in which region you visit. Winter season is not that much cold to Jungle safari site & Pokhara,Kathmandu & Lumbini region where we handle the tours & treks for 10 to 12 days. Also december & january is popular for Christmas treks & tours of 8 to 10 days, this use to do on december & january of every year. We get busy during this times.

Above 3500 meter, to Base Camp will be yes very cold in the winter season. But does not matter if you've good & quality Jackets,Shocks,Sweaters, trek boots, sleeping bags etc.

Hi Aitasingh,

Welcome to glocals! Great to see such a pro climber over here...(-:

Is 'Lama' a common last name in Nepal? I read books about Nepal climbers and Sherpas, and most of the local guys had a last name of 'Lama'. Does it mean something?

Where are you now - Zurich or Nepal?

Nir

Hi Nir, thank you very much for the message. I am glad to hear from you. In Nepal there are so many languages,so many cultures, so many traditions, so many communities, so many ethnic groups, and many castes & religions. Tamang is one of the different many ethnic groups. Tamang peoples is budhist by religion. In Tamang community, Yes Lama is a common last name. Tamang peoples is original nepalese origin peoples of Nepal, they live scattered along the hills & mountains regions of Nepal. Also some tamang peoples are famouse climbers who summited above 8000 meters high mountains at the very youngest age.

Lama is the family name of the tamang community. In Nepal peoples recognized the person by his/her name about which community & religion he/she is from.

If you believe in religions, yes ofcourse there are meaning of what is Lama means. Lama is a holy word, being a lama should never make cheat, lying peoples, hurt to others, look for benifit, and more, it is not easy to explain.

Nepal is very religious country where they worship & bow down to temples, idols, images of their gods & goddesses, they worship to the water, river, stream, sun, moon, temples, monastery etc.

There are Hindu, budhist, muslim & christianity religions in Nepal.Because of the controlled by the former monarchy goverment in Nepal, the christianity arrived in Nepal after the declaration of democracy in Nepal on 1990.

Now I am in Nepal.
