Hey Tate. I am coming to Geneva in August for a 2 yr International Econ Masters prgram. I am from India, although I have lived all over (India, Germany, Denmak, Portland, Iowa (did my undergrad there), and New York). I'd love to explore the city, although I don't know if you'll still be around in the 2nd half of August. Let me know.

No problem at all. Zurich sounds interesting but more likely for a weekend so we can explore culture and night life as well;-). I'll be driving to Bern so if you will not have any better plans you're more then welcome. We can also take 2 more people with us (3 won't be comfy enough) if you want/have friends.

I apreciate if you keep me posted on other destinations; I've seen most already but there are few I haven't been yet ex: Basel.

Hey I am here for the summer from England and so far have tried to visit some places but I'm sure it would be much more fun with someone else! 

Hi Arin! Don't worry, you haven't missed anything...I decided to stay au bord du lac today:-)...to hot for traveling. As for other trips and travel, I've a car and i'm open to all interesting proposals. I ask for forgiveness in advance regarding to skip trips to places which I've already seen. I don't want to be a taxi - want to enjoy it as well:-) 

PS: I still dream about skiing in Zarmatt in the summer but I don't think I can find crazy enough people to do it wih me.  

Voyarch, what kind of skiing is there in Zarmatt? I love skiing! Please keep me in on the loop of any travel ideas/plans/suggestions as well!!

I am also interested in exploring Switzerland. I ve never been to other cities except Bern. Zurich, Basel and Montroux are some of the places I want to go. What about going next weekend (since this weekend is the world cup final)?

The thing is simple; I love skiing and always do it in the winter (as most of people) but I heard that it is fun to do the same in the middle of the summer, fact it's not the same at all - it's warmer;-), the quality of snow...rather ice, not much of a snow is poor but hey, what the hell, let's try it! Plus weekend in the mountains.

Arin, I put my answer about skiing above - yes I heard that even it can be painfull.

About Basel, sure, why not, we could go there in 2 weeks time as Joseph suggested - I'm a football fan as well. I propose maybe to organize a pre-meeting maybe friday night to meet up, have a drink and discuss it further. I would suggest to go there saturday morning, stay in hotel for 1 night (Ibis type-not too expensive but very comfy, 3* I guess) then coming back sunday evening. Any suggestions are welcome. I can take 3 people with me, if we get more interested in they can rent and shere a car or join us there coming by train(?) i'm sorry but i don't own the bus;-)

Agree. Let s meet up this Friday night to discuss the plan (hmm no worldcup match right). Basel and Zurich is just one hour away right? Is it possible that we visit both in 2 days?

I would love to go to either Basel or Zurich or both! I have heard great things about them! Would be great to meet up at some point.

No Joseph, you're wrong:-) Basel is 260 km from GE and Zurich pretty much the same plus there is a speed limit on swiss highways so to answer on your questio; sure it is possible to visit 2 cities in one go, not leaving the car though:-)

Hmm I guess we cannot trust google maps these days :) it said that geneva zurich is 2 hours 40 minutes and Zurich Basel is 58 minutes.

Joseph, you have right information from google but tell how you want to do within 1 day; arrive to Zurich, go for a walk get back to the car and do the same in Basel? Both are bigger then Geneva are have loads to offer so If I'm driving to Basel or Zurich I want to spend minimum 1 full day in each city to discover all interesting things possible, I'm sorry buddy but I'm not interested in visiting places in the way "I've been there 2 hours so I know the place".

I certaintly agree with you Voyarch that s why I proposed 2 days for 2 cities
