Mom+kids looking for other Enlgish mothers and their kids
Hey all you anglophone moms and kids! :D

We live in Morges, with our 2 sons, Paul 6 and Jonah 2. My husband is Swiss, and I have been living in the country for 16 years, but I still find it can get lonely sometimes. I would love to find other moms and kids with whom to organise play dates in English. It's not always easy for the kids to keep up their English when in a French environment. And it would be REALLY great to have some adult English conversation!!!! : ) So if you're up to trying to organise play dates around Lausanne (Morges is very beautiful, with many parks) before winter keeps us inside, let me know! Looking forward to meeting you all!

;)

Post 1
Umm I'm just realising that I posted in the introductions area when I should have posted in the message board... sorry.

Let me try again... :D

Hi! I'm 33 years old, Canadian born Montrealer and I have been in Switzerland for 16 years, married a Swiss man and  we now have 2 sons 6 and 2. Even though I have spent as much of my life in Montreal as in Switzerland I still miss speaking to Anglophones. Since I speak English to the boys I would really love to find other English speaking Moms to be able to swap stories and for the kids to have Anglophone friends to play with.

I am an activities coordinator for the elderly and work 60%. My husband is a chef in restaurant in Lausanne, so we kind of have a crazy family organisation. I'm glad to have come accross glocals, you guys seem like a fun bunch! Look forward to meeting you all! Talk to you later!

Hello Tina, i am a mom of 2 year old Jules. We will be moving to Vevey end September and will be needing friends, especially for my little rascal, you know what it is like at that age:-) We would love to attend playdates as soon as we are in Vevey.

Hello all! Thanks for replying ;)

Well, since some of you are in and around Nyon and others in Vevey, I would say we could meet up in Morges for a playdate since it's in the middle! :D

Since November 5th is a little short notice, how about Wednesday November 12th and if it's not nice out we can reschedule for Wednesday November 26th (the 19th I'm busy) :) We could meet up at the beginning of the afternoon (say at the train station) and I the kids and I can be your guide for the afternoon! There are lovely parks and places to walk with the kids. But of course it has to be nice out! ;)

So let me know if you are interested, looking forward to meeting you all ;) Talk soon!!

Christine ;)

Hello all. I have two children, Jonathan 2 and Emilie 7 months. We are living in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne and my husband works in Morges. I am working 60% (mornings, in Morges) so afternoons are great for me. I would love to join any playdate. Oh and I'm an Ontario born Canadian.

Hello all!

I don't know if you were wondering about our eventually meeting up this wednesday...

I am going to have to cancel, so for this wednesday, the 12th. We have much to much going on and I just can't make it. The end of last week and this past weekend were kind of shaken up for us as my father in law passed away and so we had to go up to our family's place for 4 days to take care of everything. We just came back home yesterday. I had to get back to work today and so things that were supposed to get done last week, didn't get done.

I'm sorry for bailing out, but I hope you understand. Please do not hesitate to get together amongst yourselves if you can. Otherwise we will see if it is possible on Wednesday November 26th. Take care and talk to you all soon I hope! ;)

Hi.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your father in law. I am sure this must be a very trying period for the whole family.

Sorry to reply so late too for the meeting this wednesday. I just havent been checking my mail as often. We had guests staying with us last week and it was hectic. Unfortunately Wednesdays dont work for me as my eldest has tuition at home with a language teacher from 4pm to 5.30 so that pretty much cuts into Wednesday afternoons for us.

If there is another day/date possible, I would love to join in.

In the meanwhile, I wish you and your family all the best in at this sad time.

Regards.

Thank you very much Mum of 3 for your kind words.

Yes, it is not easy, especially when you have to try to explain death to a 6 year old who has TONS of very logical questions... But that's a whole other topic! lol

Well for me it could also work on Saturday afternoons, but I didn't offer it as I thought people would be with their spouses/families that day... But we can try a Saturday afternoon.

For me other days are not possible: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays I work, Tuesdays my eldest has school in the pm and swimming classes back to back until 5pm... so that's that.

We could also make a family day on a Sunday???

Up to you, no stress no rush... somehow I think that with the end of the year approaching fast it will get harder and harder to find a good time for everyone :hehe:

Thanks again for your thoughts, take care and HOPE to see you all soon! ;)

Hi Tinaburger,

Thanks for your reply. Its funny how the kids and their activities can limit the possibilities to meet! I am also slave to a 4 month old so working around her little schedule is also challenging, though I am not complaining I am loving every minute of having a baby all over again. :D

As for our meeting up, to chat away in English;), we are happy to do Sundays ie whole family outings perhaps Signal de Bougy or the like. I am also happy to host a coffee morning here at my home or an afternoon tea. I have a 6 year old son, and he would be more than happy to keep your 6 year old busy. Mull this over, if you have any morning or afternoon free or any further suggestions let me know.

Oh btw, my name is Shareen. Much better than being called Mumof3;)

Take care.

Bye for now.

Hi!

Well I guess having kids just kind of cuts you off from the "real world" It's already hard enough to coordinate your family and yourself, but to try to do it with others who also have to coordinate their family and themselves!! :w00t:

Thanks for your offer (where are you situated again?) but I am really starting to think that this idea of getting together will have to be moved to next year! Appointments and all the rest seem to be just pouring in... so...

But we can always chat it up on here and hope that we will find a play date... :D

Talk to you soon, and my name is Christine :)

Sorry I missed most of this. Crazy work times. I was going to suggest a meeting at La Maisonee but I see you both have kids over 5 so that doesn't work too well. I'm in Morges most Friday afternoons at the park behind the church.

I hope we can meet up at some point.
