Mr. Google now in Geneva...
Hello Glocals & Geneva,

I just arrived on Sunday (March 1st, 2009) into my new life here in Geneva, this slower pace of life :doze: is all very new to me but looking forward to making Geneva my home.

My name is Stephen and I am a Google advisor, which basically means I work with large companies to handle how they appear, where they rank and how much traffic they get from Google.  Its a geeky job :smooooth: but I love it and have been doing it for almost 11 years. Here in Europe I am managing many companies like: Christian Dior, Tag Heuer, and Nestle.

Thanks to my job I have worked and travelled all over the world, prior to Geneva I was working in Asia for 7 of the last 8 years and sadly I can speak more Thai, Chinese, and Malay then I can speak French :crying: but I guess its nice to be back to not being able to understand what the locals are saying.

Looking forward to using Glocals to meet fellow people in Geneva, looking forward to meeting up for poker, dinners, weekend trips around Europe and what other activities can keep me busy :Whistling: any ideas?

If you have advice/ideas on clubs or activities around Geneva please let me know, I have already found the Geneva Poker Club, Geneva Toastmasters and Glocals events like Musical Chairs, but I know there is much more to Geneva and looking forward to your advice/ideas :discuss:

Thanks,

Stephen

Well well well.. Welcom Mr.Google. I heard they have invaded the Roll area, and I think you are the first to make a splashing announcement. ;)

Looks like we're going to be Trading Places, as I'm about to leave, but the one event NOT to miss is my last monthly birthday event, and a special one that it will be based on the location of the party, and a theme based on the TV series Sex & the City. (March 19th) Hope to see you, and enjoy your time in Geneva!

Hi Stephen and welcome to Geneva and to glocals :-)

Geneva is indeed a bit slower than some other international cities, but Im sure that after joining a few member activities you will find some cool people to hang out with, and your social schedule will begin to fill up.

If you can, join the next 'New Member Drinks' as they are a good way to meet other newbies in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

Also, now that you have joined glocals, I expect our page rank and search results to 'magically' improve...

Take care, and enjoy Geneva

Oded

Stephen,

Welcome to glocals and to GVA.

SiteAdmin took the words out of my mouth: now that you're here, all our SEO issues are as good as solved...(-:

Looking forward to seeing you this Thu at the Muscial Chairs Dinner,

Nir

Thanks, yes this Thursday will be great and Geneva is looking like an interesting place, reading the forum sounds like there are some great events, bowling, laser tag, and now if can organize a go karting event...

Oded & Nir, well if you approve I can take a look at the glocals account at Google and see what I can do, but can't promise too much, will maybe get a chance to chat with you at tomorrows event otherwise another night we both are out on the town.
