Not new to Zurich but would like to meet new people!
hi,

i have been living here for 13 years and due to friends moving away, them having kids and differnt schedules/lifestyles and me moving to the suburbs i have kind of stopped doing the things i used to do and would like to start doing more in ZH again and meet new people.

i have 2 dogs that i fortunately am allowed to take to work (i work in fashion/wholesale) and i love going on hikes, running or any other outdoor activity where they are also involved in(yes i am a dog lover!). zurich has so many cool restaurants and bars that i would like to go to - i love exotic food....thai, indian, japanese and anything that is spicy!:w00t:

look forward to meeting some of you!:)

Hi Jem,

Welcome to glocals, great to have you here with us!

Finally someone who works in something 'sexy'...(-: Most of us work for less exciting stuff like Banking or Consumer Goods or IT or Porn. So tell us a bit about the glam of the fashion life...:)

The best way to meet new folks on glocals is to post any activity that you feel like doing on the Member-Activities section, and then seeing which Zurich members write you back cos they want to join you. And in early 2009 we'll have an official glocals party in Zurich to celebrate reaching 2000 Zurich members.

Enjoy glocals.com, and have a great new year!

...there is nothing glamorous about my job - really! what might interest a lot of you though, is that we have sample sales at the end of each selling season (the next one being around april 2009) where you can buy samples for the cost price (you save on the 2.5 retail markup). we sell ski and snowboard collections as well as 2 casual mens and womens collections. i will post when the sample sale will take place.

i'm hoping to meet some 'down to earth', genuine people on glocals..., something that doesn't really go with my job unfortunately;)

Hi Jennifer,

I just moved here 3 days ago from the states and I'm a dog lover too...unfortunately I was not able to bring my dog with me yet...how did you find a place to live that allows dogs????

Anyway, I am not in the fashion industry, I'm a psychotherapist for teenagers although I haven't found work here yet. But I do enjoy a good hike..especially with dogs.

Hope you are staying warm and well~

Emily

hi,

it's not a problem finding a place to live that allows dogs - depending on what breed you have. any kind of 'fighting breed' (pitbull, amstaff, bullterrier etc.) is not welcomed, but other than that it should be ok. what breed do you have? if you have the time for your dog, i would definitely bring him over here to switzerland. it is one of the most 'dog friendly' countries i know of.

you can take your dog into restaurants, stores and almost everywhere except supermarkets and food stores. there are no strict leash laws, so you can let your dog run around freely in parks (find out which ones do have restrictions though) and in the country.

i am fortunate enough to have a boss that allows me to take my dogs to work.

so, i hope you decide to bring your dog over - he would love it here!!!!:)

if you like hiking/walking, you are more than welcome to come walking with me and my 2 'monsters'.i live just outside of zurich and there are some fabulous trails and great forests for walking. i would love the company! :)

have a great sunday!

ciao

jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for all the good information...it's funny, when my boyfriend was getting an apartment last summer and he asked about dogs...he almost lost the apartment! So I am hopeful to hear that you haven't found it to be a problem to find a place that will allow us our dogs.

We both have large dogs (a Newfoundland and a Rottweiler) who are the biggest lovers ever. My dog, Anna, is a Rottweiler (not sure if that is considered a "fighting breed" here) but she is a licensed therapy dog. We both miss our dogs tremendously so we are hoping to bring them over as soon as we can. We have noticed, as you mentioned, that it is VERY dog friendly here.

I would love to join you and your "monsters" :) sometime...I have a very flexible schedule right now so just let me know!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Shanti~

Emily

hi

well just to put in my two cents worth

the swiss love dogs just not renting to dog owners

at least not in zurich

i would however find a place that does allow dogs

i think the more rural areas do allow that

personally i would not leave a dog behind

it makes a huge difference in your life

but if you have someone to take care of your dogs and dont intend on staying here for a long period of time perhaps it is better for the dogs

also travel is somewhat more difficult with a dog

speaking of which

i need to find someone to take care of my dog for short period of times

she is small and friendly and funny

i found a really nice couple on this forum before and am always looking for a backup

let me know if you are interested

and jennifer, i am up for a walk , what kind of dogs do you have ?

mine is a mixed jack russel with lots of energy

as for jobs being sexy or not

i thought that was an odd comment..

the fashion industry can make people look sexy i suppose

but it is an appropriate comment? you be the judge

ziggi and dog

who may be a tad bit conservative concerning sex related comments made by men

Hello ! Another Jennifer here but Jenny is alright too;.) Then we won´t get mixed up;.) Well I am definitely up for walks with the dogs;.) And if u ever want to come to Zurich and explore the city I would be happy to join. There is so much going on and I still haven´t been to many of the places here... So I am always interested in finding out more about the city. I am pretty easy going and more interested in exhibitions and music and cooking than I am about the newest style or make up article. My big hobby is photography. So I try to frequently go on phototours ( well as I said "I try"). So if u ever want to meet up while u are in Zurich just let me know and maybe we can do something together!

Have a good one :)
