Opening a boxing club in Geneva - Any feedback?

Hi all,

I'm a former amateur boxer and graduate trainer. I just arrived here in January, and thinking about starting a boxing club (I used to manage one in Paris).

The idea would be to provide structured, "technical" classes (no "aero box", or punching randomly an innocent bag) at a minimal price, for the pleasure of learning a venerable but yet refined art...

Before taking any actions, I would be interested in:

- Knowing how many people coud be potentially interested (just to have an idea) ?

- Getting any feebacks, tips or advices on how to find a (even modest) gym in Geneva (doesn't have to be a martial art dedicated gym)? Is it actually feasible? If some here run small sport clubs, I would happy to share any experience on this...

Thanks for you feedback!

I'd be interested. There's a glocals Geneva martial arts group, that might be a good place to see if anyone has ideas for a training space. You'll find that most gyms and clubs are already using their studio space during peak hours, and that to get a good rental rate you'll need to train during their less popular times. I'd love afternoon sessions, but that wouldn't be ideal for most people.

I have a few gym contacts. Let me know if you need more info.

I'd be interested too, if the location is not far from the airport area.

Hi, I am a field hockey player-coach but I always used boxing as extra training, I would love to take training with you, I have globes, jumping ropes and a heavy bag as well in the hockey stadium in front of the Parc des Eaux Vives.

I will probably be interested too although my lack of time and also for being a personal trainer myself and having my own business...  Laughing .  But I was raised with Brazilian jiu-jitsu and that's what my business is about and I love muay-thai... So, boxing is not a bad idea at all... Depending where and when in Genève. I live next to Nyon, 1274.  Thank you, wish you much success!

Oh, yeah, my son is the Swiss jiu-jistu champion and used to train muay-thai in the US.  he misses it a lot!  So, will you be open for kids around his age (not to punch each other, of course, but to learn the technique and work in their strength).  That wuold be great on the weekends!  Wink

Hi.

I'll also be interested in taking boxing classes any time during the week. I've always wanted to learn so why not.

Any time after 7pm during the week and any time during the weekend is fine by me.

Thanks

Sounds like a good idea. Is Europe Top Team not based here though? I saw Melvin Guillard from the UFC in town and he says he will be here training boxing with them.
