Well hello !!!
I'm thinking of moving back to Geneva and thought I'd join in here to see if anything has changed :)

I was only there for 2 years about 4-5 years ago, but strangely become tired of the madness of London and am looking at Geneva with rose coloured glasses right now..

It is a lovely place but I do remeber the last time it kind of bored me to death, I now think that perhaps I never gave it enough of a chance, never pushed myself to get more involved, learn french lol .. the usual.. and think perhaps it was my fault and not Geneva's ???

I'm still going to face the same problems, finding work being the main one, with my lack of local language it is really difficult.. the last time I ended up commuting for 2 years to London and back, it was not ideal, flying back and forth every other week for 2 years is pretty draining..

At a cross-roads right now and Genava is calling me back :)

Anyway .. hello everyone...

Hello there,

I hope you will find the answer being at a crossroads in your life and all that. To be brutually honest swiss living is fairly quiet and reserved and abit boring, especially if you are not a sports fanatic. Im from Ireland and I find it way too quiet here. Anyway, best of luck with it!:):)

Yip, I found that too, especially as I was travelling back to London regularly, doing business and partying and going to the theatre and always something to do.. it was eventually the reason I moved back there..

But now that I've been back here for a few years putting up with the madness of this city, the crammed tubes, the rude people, the dog eat dog attitude, I find myself yearning for the simple life again..

Damn the grass is always greener..

Hey,

Good to hear from you. Im sure you will find the right answer. To be honest I dont know how anyone could even consider living in this country. London may be a crazy city but better crazy than damm quiet. Im here over a year and despite being able to speak the language and being very sociable its just impossible to get to know the swiss. I have contact with every other nationality except them. Each to their own but if you are looking for abit of a social scene and existance this is not the place. The tranquility is driving me nuts and the way people are only out for themselves. I find it soo shocking, I really do, but anyway best of luck with the decision.

I know what you mean, the swiss are a little quiet and don't know how to party, everyone is really quite nice and reasonable and do dinner parties quite well, but every now and then when you are looking for wild abandon, it is kind of met with a blank stare..

Then as you are lying in the gutter wondering where home is, the swiss are more likely to stop and help you on your way, in London they would ignore you, step over you, spit on you or dip your pockets and kick you in the nuts for a laugh.. there's a lot to be said for people acting like humans :)
