You get up to 4000m, the door of a tiny plane opens and some guy strapped on your back kicks you out. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday morning.
Really it was amazing!! The view from up there was magnificent, the instructors also doubled as tour guides (i think only to take our minds of from what was going to follow!), and the actual fall was undescribable!
Free fall for more that 2000m and then a gentle pull up and the parachute opens (the main one hopefully :P). After that just a gentle sliding down (with loads of spins).
Thanks Julian for organizing this it was great! Being strapped on the cutest guy there also helps ;)
There was a nice BBQ after as well :)

Thanks Julien.

Bizarrely enough I've never felt more safe in my whole life (and yes, Maria, he was cute!) and of course, it helped having Julian hold my hand all the way up (thanks Bro x)
There aren't enough superlatives to describe the day so can only say - Organisation - Brilliant, Company - Brilliant, BBQ - Brilliant, Feeling today - Still Brilliant!!!
Thanks to Jules for organising and thanks to everyone else for being such a fun and supportive (did I mention Brilliant???) group!!

Can't wait to see the photos and/or videos!
Congrats on one of the wildest events that you've yet organized. You with your sky diving and Swiss with her Mongolian trip a continent away are truly amazing!

We actually did it! :o)
Thanks to those who taken time to slap up smthg here; much appreciated!
22 'virgins' (as smne described us!), 2 qualified glocals' jumpers + 7 BBQers came together for this... :o)
The day was badly organized by the club as they had said that everyone had to be there at 9am... and as the hours went by, it was evident that those from ZH could have avoided getting up early and come at a more reasonable time of 12-ish... Anyway, that's the way it goes in the parachuting-world, apparently...
What was it like???
Well, hopefully the eventual photos will give you a fair idea as to the anticipation/excitement/fun that was felt by everyone (I don't have any due to IT complications (computer + camera))... Oops!
Getting ready involved playing 'dead fish' on the ground (photos) followed by the hesitant walk over to the plane where on average 8 of us daredevils climbed onboard and squashed inside...
Take off! (can anyone really remember it?!!) and the 1000m mark was mentioned along with last-minute free-fall instructions to adhere to while we plummeted towards to ground...
2000m up...
3000m up... geographical points of interest where pointed out by our tandem masters... holding hands and wondering why we had signed up for this!!?...
4000m up... a buzzer went indicating 1min to the jump... the door was side-opened... the tandem master edged us out of the plane and you really did start to wonder why you had signed up for this!!!
Then...
Somehow, you just felt yourself being gently rocked out of the plane... the rush of wind... a flip over to see the plane... trusting in the experience of the tandem masters AND the material!!! (One was not so lucky with the main shoot, but the reserve luckily lived up to it's expectations!) - phew!!!...
Free-fall from 4000m to 1500m... the parachute opened, gently breaking us, followed by voluntary twists and turns (we were given the controls)... Eventually landing very softly on the grassy drop-zone... WOW!!!!
BBQ at lunchtime in the shade of trees... Everyone was really friendly and had a good time! Unfortunate that some ppl had to disappear early and miss out on the later jumpers' experience, but I'm pleased that everyone survived (Incl. my other half - phew!) and the weather was excellent!!! Blue skies and lots of sunshine!
Thanks for coming to another exciting 'JulianT' activity! Hope to see you sometime again soon! :o) J.
