glocals Musical-Chairs Dinner @ Rooftop42, Aug 2014

Big thanks to the 80 people (and one Labrador) who joined us last night at the sold-out dinner @ Rooftop42. I love these events cos I meet so many new people in them.

How was it for you? What works well, and what could be improved?

Thanks a lot,

Nir

Thanks again for a really fun evening! The company was top notch, staff courteous and helpful, and the cuisine was delicious, esp. considering the numbers. Cucumber gazpacho and green tomato entrées? Yes please! No comments for improvement. Overall, a great way to meet people. I really enjoyed the bite-sized conversations. Wink

The musical chair dinner event was very well organised in itself. Thanks so much to Nir and teamWink

It was a pleasure attending it and meeting new friendly people. I would surely do it again !!!!

And…nice venue + great view out there too.

There are unfortunately some negative comments (despite the overall positive feeling for my very 1st attendance at this type of dinner)…mainly about the restaurant.

YES !!! Sorry guys but…I will write what many people think deep down but don’t necessarily want to say/write…unless…hmmmm would I be the only one being critical (in a good and constructive way of course) here?!

Soooo here I go :

-  food OK but didn’t find it delicious. Eaten much better for the price. The restaurant was making people pay for the view and the place itself. I know, I know…we are in Geneva but well...it is not the best place for food. My opinion of course Laughing

- small amount/quantity of food (for those having a slightly bigger appetite than a small, small woman LOL). But when you don’t want to eat much, it is good.

- ordering non alcoholic drinks were a bit of a hassle…the waiters didn’t know what to do when asked about it and had to go ask their supervisor each time. Otherwise, very helpful waitress.

 - gender not balanced for some tables. Seen and been at tables with mainly women or with empty seats besides too. Not that I didn’t enjoy the company of ladies I’ve met (lovely and friendly by the way and would keep contact with), but I found that the table would have been more ‘balanced’ with a maximum of 3 ladies in total, for a table of 6 persons.

Numbers in separate glasses for each gender, is a GREAT idea. But…a maximum of 3 same table number, per gender, for each table would have helped not getting more than 3 persons of the same gender at the same table.

These are my remarks about the evening…keeping in mind that this type of dinner is for socialising and mainly to have a great time…which I did !!!

A GREAT thank you to Nir again. See you all at the next edition of the musical chair dinner !!!!Wink

Indeed. The largest size water bowl available... though he would have accepted chicken. Cool

The dinner was great, very nice location and the idea of having people go around through a draw allowed a very welcome random mix. Met interesting people, will definitely recommend.

One suggestion: if you're looking for interesting stories, would be better not to take people cold turkey but to give a heads up in the event voucher. Maybe there would be more volunteers next time.

Well done and many thanks!

Enjoyed the evening thanks to the nice people and great view. No complaints about the food -but if I recommended the place it would be because of the view. The food was good but not a drawing card.

Well Organised - just 1 thought - some people arrive with a friend and some arrive knowing nobody.  For the the welcome drink - maybe could also have some numbers at different tables/areas and give people the option to draw a number or go where they want.  The number takes the pressure off us "solos" approaching someone to chat - but for those arriving together they can stay together, or draw single number for themselves. 5 or 6 numbers would probably suffice for the welcome drink.

Cheers.
