Biking around lakes in Switzerland

Hi guys, last Saturday I biked around Geneva Lake and came up with idea of biking around other lakes in Switzerland. I'm not a professional biker, just love activity and travelling. So, my question is if anyone of you have done similar trips already? If, then which lakes? I'd be glad to know your experience/tips/suggestions. Tomorrow I'm going to Yverdon-les-Bains to take 3in1 - Lake Neuchatel and two small on the side.

Looking forward to hear from you :).

Good to know Nicolas, thanks! My bike should be fine with the gravel, since it's 35 mm, not a road one.

So eventually I skipped Bodensee, making big round around Mortensee. Thanks Nicolas for mentioning about gravel, I would be surprised otherwise.

And how about Annecy Lake? How many km around?

Hi, it's me again :). This Saturday I'm planning to go around Lac de Joux - according to SchweizMobi there's bike route no. 7 going up from Nyon. Lake itself is placed at 1300m asl. Have anyone of you been there already and can share his/her experience?

Hello and g'day all

Thank you Jagoda for the post. It is always good to know that people are riding somewhere. As you mention tires 35...I'm not one of that fast riders...I'll be glad to share the road and riding experiences sometimes, please keep in touch!

Hi Jagoda,

If you don't mind the travel, I can recommend Lake Luzern. From Geneva it's 3 hours by train. We only did about a third of the way around but the section we rode was either sealed road or dedicated cycle path, well signposted and very scenic.

Have fun!

Lac Constance is stunning!  You can visit Switzerland, Austria and Germany just by cycling around the lake! :)

Thanks you all for replies. I'm planning to go for further lakes - which means for me further than around Geneva. I guess Lake Constance will be biggest challenge and need to prepare for that - and also get better bike :D, road one.

Re: planning routes around the lakes: I've found some interesting routes and unexpected bike paths by sifting through the trip journals at crazyguyonabike.com  . The trip journals are written by people doing bike tours (ie. carrying all our camping gear, etc. for a longer trip), but since you can search by location, it's easy to find segments of peoples' routes that are convenient for you.
