Camping in the nature?

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can advise me where could be an ideal place to sleep in a tent in a wonderful nature?

We are three girls who do medium hikes but have never slept under the tent, therefore we would love to try it once.

It shouldn't be a place in an organized camping site (where people come with their cars), rather somewhere "more romantic" and safe :)

Ideally we will hike to a medium-high spot on Saturday, then build a tent on an allowed spot, then continue hiking on Sunday and then descend down to town.

Have you tried something similar? Can you please give me a hint?

Many thanks,

Sonia

If you are in Zuerich, Uetliberg is a good option I cna say. Almost near to the top you have aplace to camp and put up a tent and it is safe there I feel.

Many thanks!

(Un)fortunately we are based in Geneva.

But why not, we could try this option as well if I don't have other ideas. It could possibly be even higher than 800-900m.

You could probably pitch your tent at the top of the Jura. Just find a secluded place and maybe don't do it at 2 in the afternoon. once it's dark I doubt it's a problem. Otherwise there must be loads and loads of nice places to pitch the tent, but sure, you might not want to be on the rocks in Chamonix above 3000m!

Enjoy!

I used to to do camping on the Saleve when I was younger, there's some nice and calm places. Just think to let the place in same state you found it (as if no one was there...)

and be careful with ticks, ghosts and extraterrestrials and also the devil as he has a cave up there....

Thanks for your reply but not sure I'll go there after your "serious" post :) What if it's true after all? Undecided

Don't worry about the ghosts: there are so many vipers in Salève that they won't dare to come to show their lack of faces....

A good time to do it is also during the Perseids meteor shower to optimise camping + 'scenicness', however these are in August so am not sure if you would like to wait that long. Here is a link to a past such activity:

Speaking of asrtonomy and camping  . . .

Take the bus to Solalex. From Solalex, hike up the obvious track, passing two nice resturants, continue up straight ahead (Left a bit) and camp just about anywhere. The next day, walk down the other side of the pass. via debordance. You end up near Sion.

It's not a long or hard walk, but miles from anywhere. Nice place to camp, good views etc...
