Anyone know of access to Charmonix by train? I was thinking of going around the lake to Montreux, and heading there the long way.

It's a nice train path from Montreux to Chamonix. You have to change in Martigny and take a little train over Vallorcine and Col des Montets. You may find the train schedules here for Martigny - Chamonix-Mont-Blanc: http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?OK#focus
