Hotel recommendation in Marrakesh?

Hi!

I'm going to Marrakesh at the start of September for 4/5 days and would really appreciate any recommendation/experiences with hotels.

Also if you have any tips on what should been seen and done while I'm there is would great!

Thank you all in advance!

I stayed in Marrakesh last October @ Riad Djebel, very good. I would suggest staying in a Riad if you can away from hotels if you want to experience real life there and a chance to see the locals close up, all very friendly.

Found it by looking on TripAdvisor, booked on www.booking.com, after staying there, the owner said if booked direct with him it was 60 euros cheaper.

Hope this helps, a bit !!

I was travelling around  in Morrocco last year. Also highly reccommend you to stay not at an usual hotel, but to book a Riad . The Riads are traditionall marrocaine houses, so that you will really feel as you escape in 1001 nights :-) . There is a huge  choice of Riads in Marrakesh and in all Morrocco. Enjoy your trip, cause the country is still authentic and not so touristic like Egypt, the UAE or even Tunesia. It offers much to discover !

Kenzi Menara Palace was great would stay out of the Kenzi Menara Palace is within walking distance of the Al Mazar shopping centre and Pacha nightclub. Free parking is available and a free shuttle service to the city centre is also provided.

Would stay out of the centre with the attacks that just happened.

Best Regards

Damien

I would also recommend the Riads. Most of them are clean and safe.

You will also get traditional Moroccon breakfast there, if you want one.

You can check online or just go to the Jemaa El Fna (old town) area and check out a few of them personally and select one.

Always negotiate!!  I even managed to do it with a doctor :)

Normally you can start with 30-40% less than what they quote you.

If I remember well, in Marrakesh we paid between 300-400 Dirhams per night in a Riad for a couple, including breakfast.

I may be able to give you more tips. Email me your questions, if any.

Cheers,

H

There is one particular hotel that was featured in Sex in the City movie...La Mamounia.  If your budget can stretch that far.

We were in Marrakech earlier this month for a week - and it was incredibly hot so September a better bet (though we stayed in a villa with a private swimming pool, which was wonderful). I would also advise you to stay in a riad and better OUTSIDE the city to get away from the noise. Our place was Terra Mia Marrakech, rated very highly on TripAdvisor. Villas with private swimming pools or a riad with one large and lovely swimming pool. Run by a family (Hakim, Omar and Malika). They will take you in to the city and back once a day for free. I would HIGHLY recommend a trip into Sitta Fatima, a Berber area, and also a trip to Essaouira on the coast (though a rather long trip  but they can arrange a private shuttle for you or you can go by a very nice bus). We used their shuttle service to both places and while it was a bit more expensive, the guide was really helpful, we could move at our own pace and stop where we wanted, etc). Have a great trip.

Many cute boutique hotels in the medina side streets, great value and some of them are really nice.  All depends on your budget, many resorts and high end stuff too.

Hey there, we're hoping to travel there in November for a bit of a pre-Christmas get away. Can you let me know how you got on? I'd like to be close to the Medina and don't mind the noise so much. If you have a recommendation when you get back, please do share!!
