London Journey

Hello everybody!

I am going to London from 2 till 10 of August for the first time.

Looking for some advises like “where to go” and “what to do” there… ;)

Thank you in advance!

Yulia.

I would suggest using one of the London Tour Buses , that will give a view of the various tourists sites along the way together within guide information. Very easy to just jump on and off.

The London Eye gives a great view over the city and don't be put off by the size of the queues they move very fast. The list of places to see are almost endless but top few are of course Buckingham Palace, Museums such Natural History, V & A , British., Madam Tussauds, Tower of London .

When you arrive if you get the Timeout Magazine it will provide all the events happening in London during your visit together with tourist information and maps, alternatively look on www.visitlondon.com and check out the free concerts

just a warning about Madam Tussard... it's over 22 pounds for the entry. that's like 50chf to see wax.  i lived next door to it, never went in, but for some reason there's always a long queue to enter.  maybe you can find a discount tix if you're desparate to see it.

If you like shakespeare, the Shakespeare Globe theater is lovely.  The walk along the south bank from Shakespeare Globe to Borough Market on a Saturday with the full-on markets is nice. The Regents Park outdoor venues (and the park is just lovely), or Holland Park may also have something Opera on (might want to check it out).  In terms of eating, China town is always an interesting spot for some cheap chinese food. The infamous one is Wong-K. For 6pounds you can barely finish your plate. and then there's the Covent Garden area right in the same general area with people spewing onto the street with drinks in hand.  There's always Oxford St, Regents St. & Bond St for shopping, or Marylebone High Street for cute boutiques.

For a really nice organic restaurant, check out SallyClark http://www.sallyclarke.com/.  They have really nice lunch menus. It's in the Kennsington area.

Too much to see... Enjoy!

oopss.. silly me, of course if you're into it try and catch a West End show. there are places that may have returned tickets available or the Opera house in Covent Garden may have some really good deals for upper seats, either orchestras or opera (not sure what's on).
