Travelling to Italy/Slovenia by car?

Hi everyone, just wanted to check if anyone is planning to travel to Northern-eastern Italy (Venice, Trieste or even Florence possibly) or to Slovenia this summer? The reason is that I would love to go and visit my family there but flights are sooo expensive so would prefer to share a car ride with someone with a car - splitting costs of course.

Did you check the train connections? They are ususally quite reasonable. And the expensive part of the trip ususally is within Switzerland. Italy can be ridiculously cheap. So if you get to the border you can catch a train.
I will go in that direction, but only in April/may 2009. Is that of any help? :Whistling:
