Dear Nathalie

I come originally from Liguria. Portofino is a wonderfull place where to spend a day, but for a week I would not reccomend it.

Portofino is a very expensive place to remain and hotels have prices around 500 EUR a night. I recommend you to look for an hotel in Rapallo or Santa Margherita or Sestri Levante.

I agree with Annalisa. A couple of years ago I stayed at Hotel Monte Rosa in Chiavari. It was comfortable, elegant and not expensive (especially if you book it via booking.com). And the breakfast was great (watch out at the bell tower, though! especially if you have a light sleep). And Chiavari is 10 minutes of train from the places you wish to visit

I think going to Cinque Terre + Portovenere would be a better idea.

Been there 2 weeks ago... We stayed in Rapallo - can't really recommend our hotel although the staff was extremely helpful and all, but the rooms were a bit depressing and the coffee was awful...
Liked Santa Margherita much more than Rapallo - wonderful beaches, cool shops, plenty of restaurants, nice atmosphere and it's the closest point to Portofino (reachable either by car or taxi - better taxi b/c of parking problems in Portofino) - will definitely stay in St. Margherita next time...
Went to Cinque Terre and Genova afterwards...
If anyone needs more details or tips on our trip (we went by car from Lausanne) - you can ask me... And I need to pick up something near Portofino so would really appreciate if somebody going there would help me :D
