Description:
- This hike will take place at the Southern end of the Jura hills of Basel-Land. We will depart from Langenbruck, and hike 400m up to the Belchenflue summit at 1100m, from where there should be a splendid view. We then make a loop back to Langenbruck, passing by the 12th century Schöntal monastery, "the oldest building of pure roman style that is conserved in Switzerland" (according to my book).

Weather forecast:
- As of today (April 10), the forecast for tomorrow is: variable with sunny spells, isolated rainshowers at the end of the afternoon and in the evening (we should be done by then!), temperature at 1000m zero degrees. Please dress according to the rather cool temperature expected and bring rainjacket for the (unlikely) case we do encounter a rainshower.

Meeting and transportation:
- We meet at the Basel SBB train station inside the big entrance hall, to the left of the escalators going up, at 9:00.
- The train departs at 9:15. We change train in Liestal and in Waldenburg we take a bus. Arrival in Langenbruck at 10:12.
- Those who have the monthly/yearly tram pass do not need to buy a ticket. Those who don't, please buy a return ticket to Langenbruck. (the return to Basel being the same way back from Langenbruck)

Difficulty:
-Standard: 12 km, 400m going up to the Belchenflue, and later 150m going up to the Spitzenfluehli . Approx. 4 hours of walking, and likely 5-6h total duration to include the breaks.

To bring:
- Hiking boots are recommended, as the ground may be stony and uneven at places. Bring water and your lunch, and sunscreen/sunglasses/hat.
