Weekend HIKE in Zermatt - Matterhorn
Friday, August 28th, 2015 @ 17:30
Zermatt, Valais, Geneva
Have you ever wondered if the mountain on the Toblerone chocolate boxes ever existed? This is your chance to experience for yourself the majestic magnetism of the Matterhorn (Cervino in Italian).
The weekend will look like this:
Departure Friday 28 August 17:42 to Zermatt; We will meet at Cornavin on platform 4 in front of the small coffee shop at 17:30. Arrival in Zermatt at 22:13.
Check-in followed by a visit to famous La Poste..
Saturday 29 August. Breakfast followed by a hike to Gornergrat... Possibility to opt for dangling around and do some shopping.. Dinner in town (we will find a place when we get there)
Sunday 30 August: up early ... Departure (incl. check-out) at 09:30 to do an easy hike with lunch in the mountains before heading back to GVA at 17:13 , where we will arrive at around 21:00.
ACCOMODATION: I have pre-booked 10 double rooms, which will keep the costs down. Zermatt is one of the most expensive places in Switzerland, but I have secured 10 rooms at Hotel Berghof, a 3-star hotel.
Price per person is 135 CHF for two nights (including breakfast).
PLEASE let me know when you sign up for the weekend whether you want to benefit from the pre-booking; if you want to share a room with someone OR if you want to organise your own accomodation....
DEADLINE for sigining up for the pre-booking is 20. July! (After that date I have to cancel rooms not occupied).
Your place is only confirmed when I have received payment for the room. After you have signed up I will send you a mail with account info. Payment must be in my account no later than 20 July.
You need to bring: hiking shoes, appropriate clothing (check the weather forecast before packing), a change of clothes for the evenings (or just wear what you travel in and put your hiking equipment in the back pack), and a sunny disposition.
You need to buy the train ticket yourself.
I have set a maximum of 20 participants so don't be too long to sign up!
If you need more info, then please don't hesitate in contacting me.
Please notice, that I am not a trained guide so everybody is participating at their own responsibility!
