1 Rue de Fendt, 1201 Geneva, Geneva
You are kindly invited to join us for the presentation of your first White Paper on
Automation and AI
Implications for employment and beyond
Tuesday, 24.4.
19:00 - 21:00 h
Impact Hub Geneva (close to the Geneva train station)
1 Rue de Fendt, 1201 Geneva
The Geneva Macro Labs are publishing the product of its first ten months of activity!
Join us to discover and discuss our first tentative conclusions on how the GeM Labs and you can contribute best to tomorrow's society.
In short, the conclusions look as follows (and will require much more debate):
Highlighting the radical implications of automation and advanced AI is critical to gain support for finding and implementing solutions.
- Improve governance.
This could involve advocating institutions to receive the necessary resources and mandates, as well as pushing for alternative structures as needed, from the local to the international level.
- Improve prediction and foresight.
More work is needed to anticipate the potential impacts of automation and AI, and to assess the potential of various solutions.
- Reduce existential risk.
Discussion and understanding of the existential issues related to automation and AI, we should be advocating and lobbying for preventive policies to be put in place now.
- Increase the number of highly skilled people working on top priorities.
Through targeted education and empowerment, we can more reliably find and implement solutions.
On the evening of the 24th:
1. We will publish a solutions paper on the topic of "employment in the light of automation".
2. Based on the learnings from the past 10 months, we will share our updated plan for the Geneva Macro Labs.
3. Around an apéro, we will then happily share and discuss your thoughts and questions.
What is Geneva Macro Labs (GeM Labs)?
The GeM Labs are a project of Effective Altruism Geneva to explore possible opportunities for the region of Geneva to more systematically have a positive and long-term impact on our society.
We are a group of policymakers, researchers, journalists and entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds, working on developing a better understanding to improve our own decision-making and eventually inform others' processes, too.
Look forward to possibly seeing you there,
Renate
