We are a group from Switzerland, Germany, and Russia going to Kamchatka in the Far East of Russia on July 20-31. We can take 5-6 more people with us.
Here is the short information, mode details and route descriptions can be sent by e-mail. Optionally, there will be a 4-5 day trip around Moscow and St. Petersburg on July 15-20.
The Kamchatka Peninsula, in the far east of Russia, is part of the Earth’s Ring of Fire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 300 volcanoes, including 29 active ones, the virgin nature with moonlike landscapes, fast rivers with salmon and beautiful lakes, where bears can be observed in their natural habitat, attract tourists from all over the world.
The distance between Moscow and Kamchatka is ca. 7 000 km, 9 hours by plane.
The planned route includes 2-3 most picturesque volcanoes, a half-day sea trip in the Pacific and a short rafting trip with fishing and bears. Additionally, helicopter excursions are possible to the Valley of Geysers or lakes with bears.
Organizational details:
Tickets: there is a daily direct flight from Moscow to Kamchatka by Aeroflot, from RUR45k (CHF 650) return (or cheaper if booked early)
Visas: to be arranged at Russian consulates, a tourist invitation will be provided
Costs - Due to the recent devaluation of the rouble, the trip is more affordable than in the previous years: Kamchatka from CHF 1000 to 2000 depending on the route and additional excursions,
Moscow/St. Petersburg ca. CHF 500.
Other:
- good physical condition is necessary, though no special alpinism experience required
