Hiking to the Carnival of all Carnivals: Bellinzona
Sunday, February 11th, 2018 @ 10:00
Giubiasco and Bellinzona, in Tessin/Ticino, Zurich
What happens when one of the wackiest and more colorful Carnivals out there meets the most enchanting town in Switzerland? By now, you should probably all know, since Bellinzona is our most frequently sought destination!
After 11 years of Rabadan hikes and parties, let's have a 12th expedition to Bellinzona, capital town of Canton Ticino, where the music and chaos of more than 50 Carnival chariots will collide with the majesty and elegance of the fortified town.
As usual, the idea is to have a warm-up hike in the morning, before attending the parade in the afternoon. Apparently, the weather will be sunny but not too warm, so hiking-wise I would suggest trying the easy trail of the so called hunger towers (which takes around 2 hours). This way, we'll be able to catch 3 castles and 5 towers in one single day! (although the 3rd castle we'll probably just see and not touch)
You may read more about the hunger towers on:

How to get to Bellinzona, and how to come back alive:
Let's meet at 10am at Giubiasco station.
For going, I would suggest catching the
ZURICH HB 08:09 GIUBIASCO 10:03 train.
Return will be from Bellinzona (at 18:00-19:00 if you only wish to see the parade, at 21:00 if you wish to have dinner in Bellinzona)
