Geneva Rock Climbing Group is planning a group beginner-level "Climbing Technique and Safety" full-day lesson at greatly discounted rates!

Place: Chamonix, France (exact address to be provided)
Date/Time: 31 July, full day lesson from 9h30-16h30
Level: Beginner/Novice
Cost: CHF 125 (or €85) per person, which includes all equipment we will need.
Group size: 6 maximum (extras will be contacted if there are any cancellations)
Transportation: Carpooling if possible, otherwise shuttle bus costs CHF 50 one-way. Last time, we split the cost of a rental car and it came to about 45/per person including gas and tolls.
Guides: MatterhornNepal-GuideSource (Highly recommended by group members. No, we don't get kickbacks, they're just really good and give us a great group rate.)

Some skills we will learn:
- selecting climbing routes that are suitable to your level & fitness, easy and fun
- various climbing knots used and how to assure they are properly applied
- equipment, its design and proper use, and how it is often mis-used to cause safety issues (quite common)
- climbing techniques: hand and foot use, resting methods, efficient climbing and preserving strength
- belaying systems and proper anchoring for belaying
- various rappelling systems and their pros & cons
- back-up methods to assure safety when rappelling and belaying
- anchor building and ways to spot poorly constructed and inappropriate in-situ anchors (very important)
- the most common mistakes made in climbing and how to avoid them
- proper planning for a day of climbing: gear selection, route choice and time evaluation
- selecting climbing equipment when making purchases (this will save you money if you decide to buy gear for yourself)

A little feedback from last time we did lessons with these guides: The lesson went really well, the guides were knowledgeable and sociable, and we came out of the lesson feeling much more confident in our safety, which made us more confident on the wall. More than one has said it was the best money they ever spent on rock climbing. Those who have done their lessons in the past are more than welcome to provide feedback on their experience in the event comments, positive or negative.
