Coming Sunday, Jully 7, we will hike to the Grand Bargy (2301m), starting near the Reposoir monastery (about 40 km from Geneva) We drive towards the Col de la Colombiere and leave our cars at the parking of the ski lift (1287 m.). We will go to the Chalet Neuf and from there we go up to Grotte de Montarquis. After visiting the cave, we climb the chimney and reach on the Pointe de la Tour. Then down to the Col de la Tour and up the slope of Grand Bargy. Circular panorama.

Descent: We cross the top surface (lapiaz/karren) toward the Col de l'Ancronaz while enjoying magnificent views of Lac de Benit and its surroundings. We descend from the Col to the forest and pass by the « Grotte de St. Bruno » before arriving at La Cha. From there, passing through beautiful pastures, we arrive at Chalet Neuf and go back at the car park.

This hike is for experiencedand and spoty hikers, as we will walk on difficult terrain. It takes place only if the weather and soil are completely dry. If the conditions are not good, we have several alternate destinations in the same region.

Equipment: Good shoes, drink, warm and waterproof clothes. All must be prepared the day before.The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74 http://assoc.pagespro-orange.fr/rando-74. There is a participation fee of 5 Euro for a license of the French hiking federation FFRP, including insurance. Gas-sharing charges for those not driving of 0.10 euro-centimes per kilometer.
