snowshoe hike: Sous-Dine
Sunday, March 15th, 2015 @ 08:30
Haute-Savoie, Geneva
On Sunday 15 March, I will organise a snowshoe hike to the Pointe de Sous-Dine (2004 m).
We will meet at 8h30 at the French side of Moillesulaz border. We will drive to parking des Cheneviers near Orange, where we start the hike. We will gradually make our way up, first through the forest then through open spaces. Brilliant views over Mont Blanc and the whole region. Picnic near the top.
The hike is rather long (5 to 6 hours) and we go gradually uphill. Distance about ten km., ascent and descent 920 metres. It is intended for persons in good physical conditions with some snowshoe experience.
You will need: suitable shoes and gaiters, warm clothes, sun cream and sunglasses, your passport and some Euros, drinks and picnic. You should take your own snowshoes or rent them beforehand. There is a list of rental places in Geneva at http://assoc.pagespro-orange.fr/rando-74/Location_de_Raquettes.htm (also Cactus Sport, Carouge).
The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74 http://assoc.pagespro-orange.fr/rando-74/. There is a participation fee of 5 Euro for a daily license of the French hiking federation FFRP. Non-drivers will pay 6 Euro to the drivers for transport.
Do let me know whether you will come by car.
Best,
Bert
