Mountain hike: Tour de Vuache
Saturday, May 28th, 2016 @ 09:00
Vuache, Geneva
Coming Saturday 28 May, I am organising a hike around the Vuache, the long mountain just south of the Jura.
We meet at Bernex P+R (!) and drive to Chevrier. We will start the hike by going downhill (!) - the trail becomes slightly technical while we descend towards the Rhone. We then make our way up for a good hour. We continue over a pleasant forest trail towards the village of Chaumont where we turn to the left. We follow little trails through forest and more open areas until we reach our starting point.
The hike is about 27 km long and has a gradient of about 600 metres - only the first part (going down and coming up from the Rhone) is rather steep.
A detailed description is at http://www.pays-du-vuache.fr/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Tour-du-Vuache.pdf
The hike will about seven hours (excluding breaks). It is a hike suitable for persons who like to walk longer distances (as it is a circular hike around a mountain, there is no possibility to turn around if you are tired)
The departure is at 9h00 from Bernex P+R, transport by cars (shared petrol costs, 4 Euro). Details will be sent to the participants.
You will need enough food and drinks, suitable clothes, plus
your passport and some euros – and a rucksack to put this all in. You can wear light hiking boots or trail shoes.
The hike is organised by the small hiking association Oxygene 74
http://rando-74.pagespro-orange.fr. There is a participation fee of 5 Euro
for a daily license of the French hiking federation FFRP, including
insurance.
If you want to participate please drop me a line giving your telephone number and mentioning whether you will come by car.
Best wishes,
Bert
