Don't know the kayaking club - so that's up to you. The ski club works really well and has more than 1000 members of which about 400 do alpine skiing, so you can ask some of them;-)

I wonder what you mean is the problem with the kayaking club? I was considering to join the cern ski club, but if its no good maybe not...

Have bumped into them from time to time when doing ski de randonnée - they seem perfectly OK to me but have not been out with them as am member of another club

Their kayaking club is nothing of the sort. It's a bunch of people who like paddling these long dragon boat things. A concept totally alien to me and of no relevance to kayaking. With 400 members I'm sure you can't go wrong.
