Questions about skiing with young kids

Hello, we are packing for our move to Geneva (me, wife, kids 7 & 5 y/o) and have a few questions about skiing with family:

1. Are there resorts that are accessible very conveniently via bus/train keeping in mind going with young kids? Or is a car pretty much necessary?

2. We are able to fit our skis/boots in a single ski bag, but helmets are taking up a lot of space. I know everything there is quite expensive--does that include kids ski helmets? Are there just helmet rental packages (for season?) available?

3. Are there resorts where 7 & 5 year olds are free?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

For accessing ski resorts by train, there are several possibilities. I may think of Villars, Chateau-d'Oex, but there are many others. You may rent ski equipment for the season of for the weekend. The prices are reasonable.

Some resorts, like in France around Geneva offer free tickets under the age of 6.

Les Gets and Morzinne are very good for families and young children.  You walk out onto the slops from the village and can go there by bus - but see their website for further info.  There is also a ski school at your door step run by the ESF (Ecole de Ski Française) for all ages.  Below are some useful links:
