Ski Resorts around Geneva
Hi! I would love to go skiing once during the week and I am looking for a nice resort nearby. Any reccomendations? It should be 2000m+ because I saw the Jura snow already melting away during these days.
Thanks a lot.

Mark:  Hope you've already been skiing. For the jura check the lift openings at

http://www.monts-jura.com/prm/index.php  thats for Crozet and Col de la Faucille. It may not look very snowy from Geneva but usually there is more snow than you would expect.

That said, not very long runs and parking is problematic and queues for lift passes at weekends, and not particularly cheap to boot.

If you want to make a day of it well worth going somewhere up the Chamonix/Arve valley. A little bit longer to get there but quicker to get on the pistes when you arrive. I've been to Morrillon (access to Samoens, Flaine and others), Les Contamines, and Les Gets/Morzine. Much more skiing to be had at all levels plus higher than the Jura. All within 1 1/4 hour drive from central Geneva.

My current fave is les gets on a saturday. 20 euro lift pass for all day (buy it on the rhs as you enter les gets from 0830), then follow signs for first parking on rhs and ski all day. Ski across to Pointe de Nyon for a great inexpensive lunch (book by 11am).

Hope you get some skiing in,

Chris
