Ski and snowboarding resorts near Geneva and Lausanne
Hi folks.

Lets put together a 'knowledge base' of ski and/or snowboarding resorts around Geneva.

Anyone who knows of a resort can add it to the list, and can add his/her reccomendations, tips, and reviews.

Thanks

Oded

For me this is my nearest resort and I've been taking my family here every season. I like the fact it's any easy drive (30 mins for me) 1 hour from Geneva with plenty of parking. Apart from the skiing there is a skating rink, a swimming pool with indoor and outdoor section so you can even swim outside in winter so long as you keep most of your body in the water. We like the variety of restaurants both in the village and on top of the mountains , you can tell it's just not the skiing for us.

Being learning ski there every season since the age of three, when I was living in Lyon.

Now that we are in Geneva / St Julien, we go to Avoriaz to get more snow ... but it is allways my 'special' station.

This resort is very good for day trips 'cause it's so easy to get to.
You'll be there in 40 min. from GVA.
Take the exit "Le Fayet" on A40(after Sallanches). Then it's a short drive up to St-Gervais: it's not far from the highway.
The lift takes you up to the top of Mont d'Arbois, which means you connect with Meg?ve and Saint-Nicolas-de-V?roce.
You can go for an "apr?s-ski" package at "Les Thermes": massage, sauna, etc. It's relaxing, before you head back home.
If you overnight, then I would go for Meg?ve instead, as there's more to do over there.

It's high enough in La Clusaz to have good snow.
They are opening this weekend.

We like it for skiing, but also for many other activities: nightlife, casino, skating rink, public indoor pool, etc.
We used to go to St-Gervais for day trips, but then bought a place in Meg?ve.
The resort links with St-Gervais, Combloux, Saint-Nicolas, La Giettaz.
It's also easy to get to, though sometimes there's trafic in Sallanches. One solution is to pass Salanches on A40, exit at Le Fayet but go right towards Domancy and up the small road to Domancy & Meg?ve.

1hr from Geneva and not much further from Lausanne.

Chamonix Valley is absolutely spectacular - for vertical drop and off-piste terrain, there would be very few resorts worldwide that could compete with Chamonix - beautiful villages as well - not purpose built - and plenty of activities for non-skiers such as catching cable car up to the Auguille du Mid and taking the Montenvers railway up to the Mer du Glace.

And let's not forget the Valley Blanche ski descent - starting at altitude of 3842m, this 22km journey takes you thru huge ceracs, towers of ice and past spectacular crevasses - its definately a one of its kind and not to be missed.

Can't go wrong if you choose Chamonix!

If you ever want any local info on conditions or accommodation, please feel free to get in contact.

Stunning French village with lovely medieval square.
Great skiing in Jan, March and April in the Grand Massif ski domaine which includes 265km of skiing from 1600 - 2500 metres. Can get busy in February and for New Year but quiet pistes during the rest of the season.
Lovely restaurants and good bars and a very cheesy 80's nightclub!
You can email me at [email protected] for more details and recommendations or see www.skifromgeneva.com.
Thanks
Simon
