Snow shoeing

Hi guys, I'm new here and would quite like to try my hand at snow shoeing this season (if that's possible around here). Can anybody suggest anywhere to head for this, a group that would be willing to be patient and/or if there's anywhere in Geneva to get equipment?

Thank you!!

Jessie

Id like to mention to you too, in case you' re not aware of that the fact that in most ski resorts, you have specific tracks exclusively reserved for people who just want to walk instead of skiing and that, without any snowshoes. Those tracks are not usually very long but they give you the possibility to walk for an hour or two  and there are  usually, close by, some cosy cafes or restaurants.

Even if you have snow shoes, and decide to follow a mountain track, because of the high number of hikers during the touristic season, you can actually go hiking without any snow shoes in many places. We see more and more people using snow shoes in places where there is no need...but why not, of course ?:=)

Snow sheoing remains  a very nice and easy way to explore the mountains.

Enjoy !

check the "Things to Do" section. The snowshoeing season is starting there's already some snowshoe hikes planned (beginning of February for example).

For renting, check google, there are plenty of places around. to buy, try SportXX (of migros) or Athleticum. the sale period now helps...

Enjoy and see you maybe in one of the hikes ;-)
