I live in Geneva and I often go cross-country skiing in La Givrine. However I was wondering if there is anywhere closer where you can go cross country skiing? Perhaps near the Saleve? Does anyone have any insider tips??

I learnt to cross-country skiing on the Salève. it's a nice place to do it.
(I haven't done it since a few years, as I broke my skis up there...)

La Vattay is quiet nice and close to Geneva....u go through Gex up....easy to find

Thanks, I have been to La Vattay-its great but difficult to get to! I am looking for places closer than that, if they exist.
Bertrand, where do you go on the Saleve? Can you go by public transportation, or do you have to take the cable car to the top?

Plateau de Glières but you need car. Morzine or Praz de Lys. which can be reached by bus from the Gare routière in Geneva or Annemasse (cheaper). Salevew I think it is near la Croisette so you need car.
It is possible to get to la Vattay using the shuttle bus from Gex details are on the Monts Jura website. From there, if you are good, you can go over the Doile and finish up in La Givrine. Plenty of people seem to be proposing XC skiing trips on things to do.
