RENT is a rock opera based on Giacomo Puccini’s “La Bohème.” It tells a story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and be creative in New York’s Lower East Side. Although showing the tragic consequences of the Bohemian lifestyle for some of the characters, the story also carries a strong message of hope, compassion and inclusiveness, which makes it very resonant with many young people. It features a number of well-loved songs such as Seasons of Love and La Vie Bohème.
RENT is rarely performed in Switzerland. This production will be the original English-language version. RENT won a Tony Award for Best Musical, and it is the seventh-longest-running show in the history of Broadway.
