Anyone who can teach me how to service my car ?

I'm looking for a mechanic or a good do-it-yourselfer who can help me service and maybe also repair my own "vintage" Peugeot 205.

I've had some bad garage experiences, and I'm interested in learning how to do some stuff by myself. I was pretty proud when I'd changed the tires for the fist time, but could not manage with the fuses, despite watching some Youtube videos on the subject. I did some work for a touring club in the past, so I have a basic idea about how cars work.

Ideally you'd tell me how to do it, and then I'd do things myself under your supervision. I believe that the first thing that needs to be done is the back part of the exhaust.

In exchange, I can offer basic French lessons (lever A1 / A2), I can cook you a tajine, babysit or just pay you.

I think I remember that I saw at one point that the Touring Club Suise held a basic car maintenance course, but that was a while ago.

Maybe you could phone them or mail them and see if, and what, they still do..?

Hey Mary, I'll be happy to give you some guidance.

I used to rebuild my own car engines and service the car myself when I had the time before I grew out of it.

And Marek is absolutely right ... you cannot do it properly without some sort of manual that tells you all the various technical specs and tolerances. And Haynes is the best. Buy the one speciafically for your model.

Good luck.
