I have nothing but time, so if it ever works out that I am here while you are away, I would have no problem going to your house and taking your dog(s) for walks and feeding them. Not to mention if at all during the day you need someone let me know, I could use the exercise as well.

Hi Ive just joined the forum after ebing here for 3 months. I have a chocolate labrador and would be happy to dog sit, share walks in the Zurich region, or even Dog sit for a few days .. :)

MotoPhan..I love your animals!! I never had a dog growing up, we had a cat, who is still alive after 23 years believe it or not!! Anyway you are very lucky, they are gorgeous!!

The idea of the exchange is very good, I have a Golden Retreiver, she is 13 years old, I hated every time I have to leave her in a kennel and more now that she is getting old. The only thing is that I live in an apt. with no yard.....

Im really happy to find this group as I am just moving to Geneva and I have been dreaming of getting a dog. I have owned many dogs in the past, and I like taking good care of them, when I moved to europe about a year ago, I had to leave my dog behind with my mom, and now she will not give me my dog back! =(

I travel occasionally and my biggest concern if I get a Dog is where to leave it when I have to go. I am sooooo willing to look after other doggies in exchange for the same hospitality! I really love this Idea, if would love to meet people in this group and their pets, please inbox me if you would like to get coffee!

As you can see from the photo from last week we have three dogs, Jason, Sunnie and Giselle, the puppy.

We have half an acre of fenced land east of Geneva on the front slope of the Alps with a view of the lake.

We have recently lost our dog sitting exchange with a friend who has moved on.

So we are eager and willing to start new exchanges with folks that love dogs.

We are happy to dog sit friendly dogs here for folks on vacation or long weekend get aways.

 

I have joined Glocals expressly for this purpose. Though I have watched my mate Charlie post about 10,000 times and he forwarded this thread to me. Thanks Charlie!

We are looking for someone who would be interested in dog and or house sitting in the end of Aug. begining of Sep. for three weeks while we go to Africa.

For years we have imported people from the US or the UK to do this as it seems to be very difficult to find anyone over here interested or willing to do this.

We are 30 minutes from Geneva by car or train, there is a train station in our village literally 2-5 minutes from the house depending on the one traffic light for 15km. There is a grocery store across the street from the station and a couple of small resturants in the area.

It is so quiet out here that we say the only thing we really hear are church bells and cow bells.

If anyone is interested in either having their dogs looked after, no charge, or looking after ours for a small honorarium at our place or yours, please do contact me.

Hi there, I'll be moving to Geneva soon and in the meantime I was looking into the dog sitting situation.  I also hate kennels and prefer to leave my George with someone who is loving and kind with dogs.

George is a Yorkshire Terrier and an absolute magnet with the ladies especially.  So if you're a guy, he's great at helping you get ladies and if you're a lady, he won't leave your side.  He's got a lot of personality and very well behaved.  

My fiance and I will be back in Geneva for 2 weeks and while we are here there is one day that we need help watching him...June 1st from 8am to 5:00 pm.  I'm in town this week, if anyone is interested and maybe wants to meet up for a coffee?

Of course, I would love to return the favor, once we move into our pet friendly house or apartment (though that won't be until September most likely :(

I LOVE dogs and recently lost my beloved beagle to cancer... I never let her at a kennel because I was too afraid, not that she would get treated badly, but not treated with the excessive love and care she was used to, and I was afraid she would feel emotionally strained, so I decided to take her everywhere I could and it was hard at times to find someone (family or friends) to look after her when I really couldn't take her along with me, so I would like to offer my help under mutual agreement and availability to look after your dog or dogs, fees or exchange to be discussed!

I live in Montreux, lake and hiking trail at a few steps away from my apartment... Also a fair amount of experience with dogs as I'd had dogs all my life.

I also have a young cat at home  which can get along if your doggie is friendly!

Hi Bianca,

I used to take my dog to Dr. Vet. Fredi Witschi in Schönbuhl,  he has a bulletin board in the waiting room and I recall having seen ads of people who do this service in Bern. 

Lots of people from Bern take their pets to him because he is really good and well known... I used to live in Wittigkofen and didn't mind driving all the way to him, even after I moved to Montreux, I still drove up there!

I have the absolutely best dog in the world! She is an Australian Shepard, very well trained and willing to learn new tricks. She is very beautiful, people are always commenting on how gorgeous she is.

Call me if you are still interested in borrowing her once in a while. Or if for more than a walk we could negociate a fee or exchange as you mentioned.
