I am looking for friends and language partner from China to practise my derailing Chinese with. I spent a year living in China and want to keep as much of the memories alive as possible. I am interested in the culture, the people and many other aspects the China. Lately, I miss the time in China terribly and want to re-create an environment where I can do similar things I used to enjoy in China.
In return, I can practise English, Swedish and Vietnamese with you and share with you my experiences living in various countries and answer any questions you may have which I am able to answer!
I look forward to meeting new friends.

sympathies..
I have lived in Japan for 4 years and I feel exactly the same
way you do , but about Japan..The Japanese even have a word for this kind of
nostalgia, they say 'natsukashii'..
I hope you can find what you are
looking for..

Hey Lisa,
I too know how you feel.. I lived in Shanghai for 5 months, and ever since I've been dying to go back. I speak a little bit of conversational Chinese, and I know a couple of people who speak it here that are lots of fun. Shoot me a message and we'll set it up.
Cheers, Evan

Hi Lisa,
The best place to meet some chinese speaking youngsters is Montreux. Just go to a nightclub called BlackPearl (Grand-Rue 92) and half of the crowd speaks Mandarin or cantonese. They are all students from the hotel management schools and are very friendly. There are some vietnamese as well.

Hi Nina
I am sorry I only replied just now because I haven't been logging into glocals for a while so didn't see these messages. I had over 100 emails in my inbox and didn't have the chance to filter through!
I saw that you will have some courses coming up in 2010 but haven't yet RSVP because I wasn't sure what courses and if I RSVP, am my committed to attend them? I live in a remote place so am limited with things I can do in the evening after work. We are looking to move so I hope I will be able to attend more courses etc in 2010.
Let's get together and do something. I am quite open to things so will gladly join in on anything you may have coming up or we can always arrange to meet up for drinks or a meal.
Thanks for replying to my thread.

Thanks for your post. I hope you will be able to find something for your Japanese experience. Did you know that there is a Japanese exhibition in town?

Hi Evan
With pleasure, I'd be more than happy to get together for some Chinese nostalgia. I recently found out there is a Chinese corner in Geneva where people meet every other Wednesdays. They go for a meal or do other things from time to time. Most of them are non Chinese but some of they speak pretty fluent Chinese.
You can also email me at [email protected] as I tend to check this email more often than glocals.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Alberto
Thanks for this info! I live in Geneva so won't be making frequent trips to this nightclub in Montreax. I don't tend to go clubbing these days and since I live in Geneva, I am looking for activities in the city rather than outside.

Lisa, I am originally from China, though being out for the last twenty years. Drop me a line if you like to meet and chat over coffee or Chinese tea.
