Like everyone living here we have different visitors that we take to the same places everytime, well I certainly do. So here goes in no particular order, places I take my visitors.
1. Chateau Chillon (great for kids to run around)
2. Annecy Old Town (Can't count the number of photos taken on the bridge)
3. Gruyere (Olde Worlde - And nice place for a Fondue, doesn't hurt to have the Alien Sculptures to mix old with new)
4. Chamonix - Especially Glace De Mer
5. Yvoire -
6. Aquaparc - Can spend the whole day here
7. Signal De bougy - Cheap way to tire out our young visitors
8. Montreaux - Part of our stop off when we drive around the lake
9. Geneva old Town - Wander around the streets and stop for a coffee along the route
10.Saleve - When we have visitors here for a short time a quick ride on the cable car gives a great view of the area even if they don't get to see it close up.

they've been digging up under the cathedral for about 20 years. the excavations are amazing to check out (although the explanation thingy doesn't really match what's going on!).
the vineyards are also great! you can stop and taste some wines if you just let them know.
the Palais des Nations: the original building is beautiful (but then again, i'm biased - my father worked there for 22 years)
a drive around the lake is nice: stopping at Coppet, St Prex, Morges and having a picnic there or just enjoying a stroll around these towns is very relaxing!

A few more places:
-Les Schtroumpfs, this group of crazy modern buildings between the rues Louis-Favre, Chouet, Grand-Pre and Isabelle Eberhardt. More impressive at night;
-The giant model of Geneva in 1850, at the last floor of Maison Tavel;
-Le Glacier des Diablerets: snow 365/365, and from there you have an amazing view of the Alps till the Matterhorn and of the Jura as well. But wheater has to be fine (no clouds) and it's a bit expansive;
-Le Lavaux, these vineyards in terraces between Lausanne and Vevey, recently added to Unesco's World Heritage list;
-Driving around Val d'Anniviers, above Sierre.

It's one of the nicest city around. The magnificent Cathedral, the typical dancing dolls clock in front of the lovely Hotel de Ville, the Olympic Museum, relaxed Ouchy Lake side, stunning view from Bois de Sauvabelin, cute Rue de Bourg market on Wednesady and Saturdays, etc, etc.
I'd also add a car trip throught "La Corniche", newly UNESCO protected wineyards between Lutry and Cully, and maybe a wine tasting there.
The salt mine at Bex and big Vallorbe caves are worth the visit too.
Hope it helps,
Hobbes, applying for a position as traveling guide ;-)

I know the park may not seem to be a fullf ledged "attraction", but I think it's a great place to spend a few hours and/or to take your guests to.
The University of Geneva (inside the park) is beautiful, the Reformers wall with the figures of the founders/reformers, is impressive, and I always enjoy looking at the people playing chess on the huge floor boards.
All in all, a very relaxing and beautiful place.
Oded

just 10 min away from Geneva, you find yourself in country side areas taken out of postcards.
Head out towards Hopital de la Tour, and you're there.

and you can play chess or another big game, (forgot the name, but I just played it yesterday and lost twice...)
You can also play ping-pong, have a coffee or a glass of chilled white wine or an ice-cream or a sandwhich. And it's smack between the shopping area and the old town. It's got to be the finest parc we have in Geneva.

If you bike up the hill towards Evian, go up the Pont de Vesenaz, then turn left towards Hermance, you go through some lovely countryside with a sneak peak here and there onto the lake. Hermance has a very nice beach (bring chf 2.- to enter)known for the zen attitude and the divers which love to meet there.

Have a Sunday coffee at La Bourg du Four (La Clemence caf?) on the top of the town.
Dance at the SIP.
Rent a boat (pedalo or motor) and spend the afternoon on the lake.
Watch the skate-boarders and stunt roller-bladers at the Plainpalais skate park.
Sunbathe and eat an enormous lunch at the bohemian Bains des Paquis (very cheap and very good).
Watch the belly-dancers at The Mamounia.
Take the Mouettes (public transport boats) on the lake.
Visit the UN and Red Cross.
Learn about the Escalade (French Catholics trying to invade Protestant Geneva) and visit the closed secret tunnels of the old town (they're open once a year).
Run in the Escalade Race.
Go into a very expensive watch shop and have them replace the battery on your watch. It's a real Swiss treat and no more expensive than anywhere else, so why not?
Join the Critical Mass bicycle parade the first (or last) Friday of every month.
Find out what's going on in your Maison du Quartier and see what you can contribute.
