Facebook is the greatest: but then again someone having a large chicken as a profile photo would have nothing to share on a social site.

What a ridiculous assertion.
Sharing information has nothing to do with photos unless you want to communicate a specific sort of information that captures one point in time. Photos don't help people who have questions on where to find a good or service or how to resolve problems.
Bravo for you if you love Facebook. Not everyone does or has to share your opinion.

I supposed some do not mind posting a photo of a derisory and ludicrous chicken instead of one of themselves: I guess these individuals are simply "chicken".

Sure the photo makes no difference but its nice to add some real feel (to this birtual world)and see the persons face you are talking to and there is no issue having a little photo :-)

Some people prefer to meet at events. In any case people use social networking sites differently from others.

Great reasoning. Completely relevant to the thread. Thanks for that Billy Madison moment.

Does that extend to those who use nicknames?

@Arun KV; when I joined Glocals nearly 5 years ago, one had to chose a nickname.
