There is a good chance that you’ll get your things back. The thieves are often only interested in the money. The rest of the portemonnaie and bag and contents are thrown aside in the majority of cases as soon as conveniently possible.
This is what they told me at the Bureau de objets trouvees when It happened to me.
It can take up to a month for the things to turn up though and they may, though not necessarily so, be in a sorry state when they do.
My purse was wet through and starting to turn mouldy for example when it was found 3or 4 weeks later, but ALL the cards and ID were intact still...apart from my pathe cine card that is...hmm..
So afraid you’ll have to arm yourself with patience and hope and check with them regularly. If someone gives something in resembling your property to them they may very well get in touch with you to go view the things.. If that happens they sometimes give you the name of them person who found your belongings too.
Could be sooner too.
I found, with another unknown person, a handbag with ID, Incuding passport, telephone, money and lots of other things, (can't remember all) at the airport, close to a bus stop.We gave it in immediately to the Police at the airport who were going to drop it later at the lost and found office.
Hope it’s sooner rather than later for ypou
Wishing you good luck and a happy ending with it all!
