A good long weekend away destination??
GOL people I need your help!
I am dying for a vacation, and it seems that I'll get 2 days to go for a long weekend. Now, although I know that with GOL parties Geneva is the best place to stay ...
does anyone have any suggestion on a CHEAP place where to go for a long weekend? not too far, cheap flights, nice, not to think about work... eveythings else doens't matter ...

Suggestions are welcome!!

Cheers
Val

I can recommend Shueman in Romania. It's cheap, you won't think about work. The place is in the bottle of a valley surrounded by mountains covered with forest. It's the perfect place to be reminded about "the good old days".

Try Croatia -- especially an island on the Dalmatian Coast (Brac or Hvar) or Dubrovnik. Not sure what the weather is like there right now, but it's great nonetheless.

Try EasyJet destinations like Barcelona - or Fly Baboo destinations like Venice (maybe being from Italy would rule out Venice) - but there are many other destinations available.

I saw the reco. to go to Croatia. I did this in October, including staying on one of the islands, Mljet. I agree it's a great idea, but I wouldn't attempt to do that for a weekend - as firstly the flights are not direct (eg via London) - and the travel from Dubrovnik airport onto Dubrovnik and then ferries to the islands etc - altogether wouldn't make this very practical for the sake of a 2 day break - in my opinion. However can thoroughly recommend Dubrovnik and Mljet for a 6 ? day break. Time to unwind and unpack !

Hi Val,
How about you fly to a destination in Spain with Easy Jet like Malaga or Barcelona? Spain is also quite cheap for food and hotels (compared to Switzerland, that is!)
Just a thought.

You may want to check that out again(Mile transfer to Star alliance)

Because they transferred my Swiss Travel Club miles to this other club called "Miles and More" even though I am a Star Alliance member and preferred the transfer there.

Silly me should have mentioned though I belong to Star alliance(Royal Orchid), they transferred my miles to Star alliance (Miles and More)!!- which starts from scratch. Would have been wonderful had let me add it to my existing Star Alliance card.
Never Mind c'est la vie..
