Celebrating our wedding anniversary by an outing amongst the rich and famous [!] in Gstaad on Sunday {we ate our lunch in the Co-Op}!!! en route in the snow, lost my Mi-Taxabo and passport which fell out of my tummy-bag the zip of which did not close properly. Panic! Spent hours at police station and railway station. Long story short. An honest and kindly German tourist found them, put them in the post on Monday, and they arrived here in Evian today. We are so grateful and by this means, would like to thank everyone, everywhere who takes the trouble to return lost documents with honesty - seemingly expecting very little reward in this case, although we shall of course compensate the gentleman as we feel appropriate. Accolades, accolades

Good for you!
on 3 different occasions, I found wallets/purses. I just drop them in the post box or at the CFF lost and found. I tried the first time to give the wallets to the police, they did want anything to do with it and said, drop it in the poste yellow box.
Amazing but I was with my australian friend who was really shocked, he seen we didnt even look inside for detaisl or other, we just wanted to have help from police but they just looked at us stupidly and asked what you want us to do with it, but said put it in the post box. So I put my business card int eh wallet with all the cash, I counted, so if the owner contacted me, and he did, I checked that he got everything, and he was so very gratefull for all the ID and other, he sent me a bottle wine and offered to meet over a coffee. but he was from Neuchatel and I said that woudl be difficult.

I had a similar thing happen one Christmas eve in Verbier amongst the crowds doing their urgent last minute gift and food shopping. I lost my wallet with plenty of cash and cards in the snow clogged streets.
Family and friends were counciling me to cancel my cards before disaster struck. (There are plenty of poor, hungry ski bums as well as rich chalet owners!) To make a long story short. I refused to cancel them on the principal that it was Christmas eve and I believe in the power of good.
Lucky me! Much later that everning, I recieved a call from the police station and guess what? A nice lady had turned in my wallet to the station with ALL its cash, cards, etc. Never got the chance to thank the nice lady - so instead I'll join you here in saying thanks to all honest people everywhere.
