ANY REFERENCES FROM BRILLAMONT, CHAMPITTET, INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LAUSANNE?
We are just moving to Lausanne's area and would greatly appreciate any references about the english speaking schools in Lausanne and/or Lausanne area. My son is about to start 10th grade. Thanks,

Hi, I cannot provide recommendations, but you might want to ask other parents in your area. Try these:

Yahoo Group "Lausanne Kids"

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Lausanne-kids/

Yahoo Group "Swiss Schooling"

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Swiss-Schooling/?yguid=220932940

Brillantmont and ENSR have a day school as well as boarding facilities that attract students from overseas. ISL and ENSR offer the IB program. Each school has/serves its distinct population, or community, of families, its own approach, entrance criteria (if any), and atmosphere. Your family will probably be happiest at the school where the community is similar to you in terms of your background, values, where parents work, etc. Your son's previous education is an important factor for continuity and to ensure appropriate university options, as are expectations re extra-curricular activities, transportation to/from school (how independent is he), the level of individual care and attention that you expect, etc. I'm sure you've already given all of this a lot of thought. Try to find other like-minded parents to ask for recommendations, and as much as possible arrange visits and meetings at the various schools you're considering, class visits or special events (it's the end of the school year...) - nothing like the first-hand experience! Good luck!
