Advice: Anyone knows a Lawyer with knowledge in Immigration to US.

I am looking for a lawyer for a consultation and legal advice. My case type: “Immigrant Petition For Relative” in fact, my case is that 10 years ago my brother who is an US citizen and living in, did a “relative petition” to Immigration Services, and now I have got a letter from  Department of State (National Visa Center) where noticed me that the that petition was approved and I should start the petition visa processing in the American Consulate in Genève. This is the reason I am searching a lawyer who know out that agreement and could help me with my documents processing.

Call Lenz & Staelin in Geneva, ask for Olivier Mach.

He's expensive, but he's a pro at immigration law.

Good luck,

Nir

I would recommend

Etude Olofsson & Rossi

rue de Cornavin 11
1201 Genève
022 715 28 28

Reputable. I suggest you actually take an initial meeting with both Lenz above and Olofsson. Either Frederic or Marcus. I dont know Lenz. Get to know the law firm. See if it is one you feel rapport. Get a quote. Then proceed.

Good luck.

You might also ask your brother to ask for assistance from his Representative and/or Senator in the U.S. Congress.  They have staff that are paid to assist constituents with immigration casework. The staff can request updates on the progress of your petition.

Good luck!

Maybe ask the American Consulate if they could recommend someone? Surely they get that question all the time, and they might have heard of some good lawyers.

I couldn’t meet Me Olofsson by telephone but I sent an email telling about my requesting and I am waiting the answer. I am trying with two others…uff, unavailable but it is not easy to find one specialized in American Right Law (Immigrations). Thanks.

HI (Translator),

Thanks for your replays; following your advise I contacted my brother in States and he found somebody (lawyer), he advised me one first step and l'm working in it (gathering forms and filling them). I think when I finished all documents required I will call FORBES-JARGER (Dr. david G) just to ask if he (they) could to check my documents before to go to the interview.

Thanks you again.

Him and his team are great specialists, but in Swiss immigration law, while what we have here is a US immigration law case.

The most important thing is to answer all questions in a straightbe straight-forward manner AND NOT TO OMIT ANY INFORMATION.

I know that sounds like common-sense advice but I dealt with numerous cases where applicants did not disclose all relevant information and their petitions were subsequently disqualified.

Let me know how it goes.  Smile

First off, congratulations - it is a long wait to get a relative based petition visa number!

I think I can help you out.  I am a recent law school graduate and have been working as an immigration law clerk for a multinational corporation based in Chicago for the past two years.  I worked with employment based immigrant/non-immigrant visas and also with the family immigration, including the green card process.  I compiled and filed visas and corresponding documents for our clients and assisted them with the consular interview process.  If you need someone to look over your documents I would be happy to help you so you don't need to travel all the way to Bern.

So you are aware, in the U.S. attorneys go through 3 years of law school after college and then take a bar exam (generally in July) which they must past in order to become a licensed attorney.  I am currently awaiting the results of my bar exam and should find out in early October.  As such, I am NOT a licensed attorney (yet!) and am in limbo until October.

I just moved here a few days ago and need some time to get settled in but if you would like someone to look over your documents in a few weeks, please let me know.

Hi Cesar,

NIV normally sends a packet together with the Letter of an approved Petition for Family-Sponsored Immigrant application. It summarizes the procedures on what documents to prepare, visa forms, visa fee usd330, medical examninations, appearance and interviews, among other things.

Suffice it to say, that if you have a good command in English, the procedural instructions should be enough. I presume that some of your biographic data has changed in the passing of 10 years. It should be amended.

Although my company handles visa assistance in the Philippines, I would need a phyical look at your documents. Hence, treat my advice as a guide, not as a blueprint. That is my disclaimer. Feel free to pm me if you need pro bono "remote guidance". Good luck!

Hi Aries,

I have received the notification from NVC and I downloaded the appropriate forms and I am preparing documents. I am paying close attention to all documents. I didn’t finish to gathering all personal documents; I like that “remote guidance”. Thank you.

Hello Cesar,

As it is, I checked on US Embassy website in Bern if it can further help you. I now understand where your confusion is coming from. The site is not comprehensive. Should you write me, I'm 6 hours advance from your time. Ciao
