Advice for transporting unaccompanied bike bag from ZH to Gva or ZH to France (Avignon)?

Hi, all,

Two scenarios:

(A) transporting an unaccompanied bike bag from ZH to GVA:

I know that you can travel with a bike bag on Swiss trains, but wondered if anyone has experience sending an unaccompanied bike bag on a train to be picked up in another city by a third party (in this case, ZH to Gva)? (if it’s mandatory to also purchase a train ticket, can you just buy the ticket and not travel with it and only send your bag?)

(B) sending an unaccompanied bike bag from Gva to Avignon, France. Any tips?

Any info/tips much appreciated! My cousin is coming to do a big bike tour across Switzerland, but needs to be free of his oversized bike bag! Trying to help out.

Just check out the Swiss rail service's website:
