In the UK this is just plain illegal, but i thought someone here might be able to confirm if Switzerland is the same? Stuff like this just irritates me - whilst I think about it is there an opt-out system for unsolicited mail or telephone calls in Switzerland?

Just to make sure I understand - you received some item you never asked for, from a person or company you never contacted, and now you are expected to either pay for this item or pay postage to return it?
Twilight Zone... I would expect the law to be on your side here, but have not had any experience with something like this.
If you dont mind sharing - what item did you get, and how much are these people asking you to pay?
Thanks
Oded

[/b]Just a little advice please.... I have received one of these mailings where someone sends you something in the post and asks you to pay for it or mail it back to them. The invoice is included; i never asked for it or knew of its existence until it arrived in the post. There is no mail-back envelope so i would have to pay myslef for the postage to return the item.

Yeah, this technique's pretty dirty, isn't it. It's pretty common among purveyors of,.. er... let's just call them adult toys. Assuming you'll be too embarrassed to kick up a fuss. I didn't know you were into that, but good on you for being open enough to share it with the forum. Respect! ;)

Obviously if it was a black mamba I wouldn't have even thought of sending it back...

It was then that I sent a registered letter stating that I had never placed an order for the goods and if they wished they could have everything back in pristine condition provided their representative collected the items in person from my home at my convenience. I received an apology by return post; it was all a huge mistake and I could keep the CDs as well as the rack. Since the selection of music wasn't to my taste, I sold the lot and bought something I really wanted with the proceeds.

the swiss have very little tolerance for this type of practice and you may find that with one letter from them to the company in question and 'poof' the problem is 'your promblem no more'.
