Advice wanted

I recently purchased a new snowboard for as a birthday present. 8 days later, (today), I found myself needing to return the board to the shop where I purchased it in Vevey.

The board had been on sale for 30% off the RRP. I took a French friend with me to help as mine is appauling. Anyway, the lady in the shop refused to take the item back, saying that because it was on sale there was a no returns policy. No where on the receipt did it say anything about that at all.

Then she said that it had the original price on the receipt had been crossed out and the sale price had been written on. That wasn't the case either and when I asked her to point this out to me on the receipt, she couldn't.

I had read that Switzerland had signed the same agreement as the rest of Europe concerning the 14 day return policy on items purchased.

I wondered if anyone could help / offer me some advice as to what to do, as I would like my money back on the item.

Thanks in advance

Well if they have consumer laws similar to the UK then they dont have to take it back. Retailers are only obliged to take back goods in the UK that are either faulty, not fit for the purpose or not as described. Lots of UK retailers allow you to take things back (within a set period of time) if you change your mind, because they want to keep you happy.

Maybe Switzerland has different laws.
