Airline lost baggage

Our bags were lost on Continental flight from the US to Geneva on Friday.

The airline seems to have no idea where the bags are, and they are giving us conflicting information about where they might theoretically be.

Does anybody have any experience / knowledge with such situation or knows somebody who might be able to help?

Anybody has any experience on how to put an insurance lost baggage claim?

Many thanks,
Avi

hi avi, this is really very strange. i was always told that flights never take off with unaccounted for baggage! so, how can your bags be on some other flight which you weren't on?  maybe if you tell them you had "explosive" materials in your bags.......they might find it more quickly then.....and when they locate your bags in the next 20 minutes, say "sorry, just kidding"

Hi, Avi:

I helped a client get reimboursed 10,000 sfrancs a  couple of years ago because of lost luggage.

I would contact your insurance company asap and ask the following:

a) what is the minimum amout of time you have to wait before filing the claim;

b)  what kinds of receipts and/or proof you need to present as justification.  You will probably have some credit  card receipts/records and other purchase receipts that you can present. Other items you will have  to estimate to the best of your ability.

c) what items are you allowed to claim ...

I would also call Continental daily .

Good luck!
