America & Europe in Dissarray about Libya

Now that the whole western Libya (military & civilians) is armed and fighting against the rebels, where next will NATO be bombing? It is already crystal clear that the rebels can not advance without NATO's air-strike backups.

See the attached video of the hypocracy ...

And experts arguement against arming the rebels...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/30/arming-libya-rebels-america-warned

Already, the rebels are selling oil to the West... in exchange for what? Your guess is as good as mine!

You could have titled your Forum '(Western) Hypocrisy' but then there would be no end to the Forum!  Money makes the world go around and the arms manufacturers have no care for morality or law: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/cluster-bombs-on-offer-at-arms-fair-despite-sales-ban-506739.html

The excellent British journalist once filmed a visit to an arms fair and spoke with the sales representatives and showed them to have zero morals for being in the business they are in.  I wish I could find it and shall continue to try but in the meantime this one based on his book of the same name will either introduce you to Fisk and his courage both physical and moral or will give you much to refelect on how soldiers have become warriors: http://www.cultureunplugged.com/play/5679/Robert-Fisk--The-Age-of-the-Warrior

You are claiming that "the west" is bombing, so that it can buy oil from the rebels? Thats a bit a weird way to look at it if you consider that Gadafi always sold the Oil. And the military operation is not cheap..

Sorry, but who is claiming (has claimed) that  "that "the west" is bombing, so that it can buy oil from the rebels?".?  You are right the military operation is not cheap.  So who do you suppose is paying for the military operation?  Taxpayers perhaps?  Is it where they want their taxpayers dollars/Euros/GBP to be spent?  Is there proof for that e.g. a census or referendum a la Suisse?

Yes, the war is all about oil and its cost price. Some years back - can't remember precisely - Gaddafi proclaimed that Libya's sweet crude (easier and cheaper to refine, you might want to research on that) will not go to the West, instead the West would have to buy refined oil from Libya. He then intesified the construction of many refineries in his coutry. That was a notoriously nationalistic mind set, call it revolutionary.. But then, the whole world ganged up against him, until he was forced to drop the idea.

Now come to think of it,

You extract crude from those poor nations in Africa and others (often with environmental degradated situations like in Ogoni land of Nigeria), you ship the crude to Europe, USA & Canada for refining, then re-ship the same product back to the poor nations at astronomical prices. Then you come to say they are not developing. The heck, how would they be able to rise up when they are being pined down by the same hypocrites?

An average Western citizen (mean of all European & North American) earn about €2000 a month. If he/she has a car, average monthly gasoline expenses is about €150. That is just 7.5% of his/her salary. But the average man from these poor nations will earn below €200 a month, and if he dears own a car, he can not have it fueled nor maintained.

The West are always and will always be ready to deploy their asernals anywhere their own interest is been threatened. The CIA has killed, I repeat, the CIA has killed three (3) presidents from Nigeria alone (they were directly involved), simply because what they stand for were in contrast to the American own interest.

Do some mind bugling research and maybe you will find some mouth gasping information on your screen. Also, try to be a student of history.

If you need more facts, try to find out the root cause of Ruanda genocide. Maybe you can then start to ask why the real masterminds are not at the Hague answering to their atrocities. If you can arrest and procecute pimps (not the prostitutes) and drug barons (not the drug dealers), then please, send me back to school to learn why war instigators are not asked any questions.

Thanks for the Robert Fisk link. It is very informative, and I recommend it to people with inclination to the words "truth" and "sincererity".

Speaking of Western hypocrisy viz a viz Africa (and other third world/developing nations/regions we do hate (some) pirates. Excerpted from

Truth and Consequences

Why We Love to Hate Pirates

By SONIA CARDENAS and ANDREW FLIBBERT

Never mind that foreigners have engaged in commercial crime off Somalia's coast for nearly two decades, taking advantage of collapsed state authority on shore. According to the Marine Resources Assessment Group, over 500 ships a year have fished illegally off Somalia's coast, robbing the country of hundreds of millions of dollars annually. As recently as 2008, the UN envoy to Somalia emphasized illegal fishing and the dumping of toxic waste (mostly by European countries) as dire problems requiring immediate international attention. Toxic waste reportedly has contributed to elevated birth-defect rates and health problems in Somali coastal communities. And yet global outrage is selective and unidirectional, obsessed only with the crime of piracy.

Andrew Flibbert is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Trinity College.

And when I talk of western hypocrisy I include my native land (pun not intended as there were native/aboriginal people with highly developed societies there when my ancestors arrived to fulfill their manifest destiny), Canada.  This article on the real causes and criminals of the Rwanda genocide gives a different picture of what we in the west ‘know’.  Other articles are to be found here: http://www.google.com/search?q=somalia+pollution&domains=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.counterpunch.org&sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.counterpunch.org#sclient=psy&hl=en&domains=http:%2F%2Fwww.counterpunch.org&sitesearch=http:%2F%2Fwww.counterpunch.org&source=hp&q=rwanda+genocide&sitesearch=http:%2F%2Fwww.counterpunch.org&aq=2s&aqi=g2g-s1g2&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=af8d2e119f8aa14
Re-writing the History of the Rwandan Genocide
That Halo Over Romeo Dalliare's Head Has More Than One Hole in It!

By ROBIN PHILPOT

When International Criminal Tribunal prosecutor Carla Del Ponte learned from a Canadian newspaper in 2000 that the Rwandan Patriotic Front and its leader Paul Kagame were prime suspects in the April 6, 1994, assassination of the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi, she reportedly said: "If it is the RPF that shot down the plane, the history of genocide must be rewritten".

Hopefully others will be as candid as Ms Del Ponte as more and more information surfaces on events in Rwanda in the early 90s. First on that list should be retired Canadian general and former UN peacekeeper in Rwanda Romeo Dallaire. However, Dallaire may find it hard to swallow his pride after enjoying such a massive PR campaign organized for him ever since his 600-page book appeared in October 2003 (Shake Hands with the Devil, The failure of Humanity in Rwanda, Random House Canada).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another example of Romeo Dallaire naysayers is Colonel Luc Marchal who led the UN troops in Kigali. Unlike Dallaire who tours the world to defend Paul Kagame and the RPF, Marchal is very critical of both. "I am personally very convinced in the RPF's implication in the Rwandan tragedy", writes Marchal in a 1998 letter, "because I too had been fooled by their smart propaganda during the Arusha negotiations [in 1993]. Once I was in Kigali, the gulf that separated what was said and what was really happening became obvious. In fact the RPF movement is totalitarian and it crushes absolutely everything in its way." He also pointed out in a 2003 interview that the shooting down of President Habyarimana's plane would have required months to plan and carry out, and that the rapid deployment of RPF troops in Kigali and in the North on April 7, 1994 would also have required months to prepare. Marchal leaves no doubt that he suspects the RPF of committing that crime and considers it to be crucial to understanding what happened after.

In a much more honest book about the Rwandan events published in 2001, Marchal also clearly implicates the United States in the 10-year cover-up of the April 6, 1994, terrorist attack that triggered the terrible massacres. "Who is powerful enough to have prevented a real international inquiry from casting light upon the events that occurred when President Habyarimana was flying home from a regional summit in Dar Es-Salaam?" Robin Philpot is a Montreal writer. His book Ça ne s'est pas passé comme ça à Kigali (That's not what happened in Rwanda) will soon appear in English. http://www.counterpunch.org/philpot05152004.html

You may also wish to learn some history of your own country in the post-WWII period (from former CIA agent Philip Agee in the film below) with the recruitment of former Nazis, SS and other criminals by the forerunner of the CIA - the OSS.  Don't misunderstand me, I'm sure the Soviets were playing similar games but being a devastated land compared to the USA (and to some extent Britain and France) I suspect they had more resources and chances for 'success'.

Security Council Approves ‘No-Fly Zone’ over Libya, Authorizing ‘All Necessary Measures’ to Protect Civilians, by Vote of 10 in Favour with 5 Abstentions

Enjoyably vague worded resolution 1973 which the UN says is a 'No-Fly Zone' resolution, which explains why all those cruise missiles were fired, tanks and other (still) Government of Libya military installations were attacked.  Now we have boots (aka ‘military advisers’) on the ground.  I'll believe in this humanitarian intervention when pigs or tanks can fly.
